    Sakhavu - " When Tiresome Narrative Spoils A Promising Thought ! "
    Rating - 2.5/5
    Detailed Analysis
    ______________
The idea looks really promising on paper - Self-realization of a new generation communist after his encounter with a true comrade who's admired by the public and party leaders alike. The excitement increases further when both the characters are played by youth sensation Nivin Pauly who is making a return to the big screen as a lead hero after 3 superhit films 'Premam','Action Hero Biju' and 'Jacobinte Swargarajyam'.

The above mentioned factors and more makes Sakhavu a sellable entity, but what makes it a partial success is the lengthy and half baked narrative that fails to keep the audience hooked till the end of the presentation. The promising plot when translated into a full-length screenplay gave way for stereotypical situations, lengthy sequences and forced punch dialogues making it a pretty mediocre film altogether.

The initial half of the movie, eventhough lengthier was better on comparison with the second and more engaging due to few good light-hearted situations that had typical Nivin Pauly stamp to it.The combination sequences between Nivin Pauly and Premam fame Althaf were funny eventhough one can't forget the fact that the humor touched the limits of buffoonery at atleast a couple of situations in the narrative.

There were atleast half a dozen of hard hitting dialogues in the movie which could have been more impactful given a fast paced narrative and more convincing voice modulation by Nivin.Dialogues like 'there is no limitation for a comrade' could have been more effective had Nivin tried to work upon his dialogue delivery to make it more powerful of sorts.

The climax part was rather engaging and well-shot making it the best part of the 165 minutes long narration. The fight sequence involving a aged comrade krishnan was unintentionally funny and could have been trimmed off.

As noted earlier,Nivin Pauly was impressive as young comrade Kichu, but struggled to give a convincing act as comrade Krishnan due to his limitations in handling hard-hitting dialogues. The old age part of krishnan was portrayed well by Nivin.Aparna Gopinath was cast in the cliched role of a social activist.Aishwarya Rajesh didn't had much to perform than to look serious throughout the film.Among others Binu Pappan,Sudheesh,Baiju etc were ntoable.

Songs by Prashanth Pillai were poor eventhough he managed to make it up with a thrilling background score that suited the theme of the movie.Makeup department deserves a special mention for their impressive work.Cinematography by noted cameraman George C Williams was good.Editing part could have been dealt better.

Overall,Sakhavu is yet another half-baked drama based upon the communist ideology that fails to present an engaging narrative at the first place.

Final Verdict::Just about a month after Tom Emmatty’s 'Oru Mexican Aparath'a made a partially successful attempt to ring bells at the boxoffice by playing with the emotions of left supporters,Siddharth Siva has come up with yet another strictly average communist film that suffers badly due to a painfully long narration.I sincerely hope Amal Neerad's Dulquar Salman starrer 'Comrade In America' won't be an addition to this list of mediocre films that are trying to exploit communist sentiments without any credible storyline whatsoever.
