Mohanlal + Lal Jose combo has been a long pending combination in Malayalam. We have been hearing different projects from this combo but none of them materialized. Finally it happened as Velipaadinte Pusthakam. In spite of this long pending combo the project did not evoke much interest in me thanks to Benny the script writer. Still interests got generated when the recent 2nd get up stills came out. Kind of got a feeling that there is something in this movie. Hence went to the movie with an average expectation.


Film starts of with murder of Viswan (Anoop Menon). That itself is not shot well. Title Cards are shown along with it, so it okay. Then we shift to College and the two gangs there. The most surprising fact here is that Appaani Ravi who surprised all of us in Ankamaly Diaries, dissappointed us big time here. It was a mediocre performance from him and also the Anandam guy. Then comes the Idikulla intro. The cycle stunt in the Intro is horrible. Fans show allenkil koovan veezhaan nalla chance ulla scene. Pinne sthiram cliche, ellaarudem ishtam nedi edukkunna naayakan angane angane... Only relief in this half is Salim Kumar. Some of his comedy scenes have worked out well. First half completely rests on Salim Kumar's shoulders. Lal's Idikulla character is a big let down. Interval Scene where Idikulla transforms to Viswan is a treat especially for fans. So the interval gives a hint of a mass 2nd half coming.


2nd half starts of with the movie shooting based on the character Viswan and Lal's performance as Viswan. Mothathil oru Mass 2nd half aanenkil padam mothathil thanuthadhu thanne. Idackide Salim Kumar numbers ozhichu niruthiyaal onnum thanne illa. Mass Scenes okke undenkilum onninum oru punchum illa. Pinne senti scenes also goes without having any impact to the viewer. Cut parayaan marannu ennu parayunna scene okke oru feelings-um viewers-il undaakunnilla.

Overall Summary - An average entertainer which entertains at times and gets you bored rest of the time.


Crowd Response - Heavy Claps for Lal, Lichi, Appaani Ravi Intro and when Lal Jose name is shown. Good response for most of Salim Kumar comedies. Pinne good claps for Lal Mass Get up and also some actions. Climax-ilum kure per kayyadickkunnundaayirunnu. Endhiro endho.
