Justice League - Fun but a flawed son of Two Fathers - Punch's Review

Justice League was the movie every DC fans were looking forward to. It was meant to fix lot of issues - coloring issues in BVS, comic fun element issues, Superman characterization issues (Superman being too serious in BVS). It was supposed to give an ensemble movie like the Avengers without losing importance for any of the Justice League members, to give origin back stories for Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash and at same time, introduce Steppenwolf with his own backstory on why he needs to attack earth.

After BVS's collection was short of expectations, WB asked Zynder to restrict JL to below 2 hours! Zynder was forced to do all those things with a 2 hours movie and then a terrible tragedy occurs in his family. Then Marvel's own Joss Whedon who made Avengers was bought to direct the movie. After extensive re-shoots, coloring and aspect ratio changes, the final product was too far from both Zynder's initial vision and Joss's last hour rescue attempts! The movie do have moments of fun and crazy fast paced action scenes. However, almost 40 minutes from the original movie was cut off to achieve the mandate of 2 hour duration.

Review:

I watched the movie in 2D and in IMAX 3D. IMAX experience was much better especially fight scenes. It should have been better if all removed IMAX scenes were included. Many scenes from trailers are missing in movie (Scenes like Clark- Lois ring scene, Flash saving Lady, Cyborg saving cop, Cyborg diverting missiles etc.) Wait for all the end credits to finish to see the second end credit scene. There is that Batman villain every one was waiting for!

What I liked about the movie?

• All new JL members! [Aquaman and Flash were fun. Cyborg was good]
• Superman come back scene [They do fix Superman issues; he was fierce in some scenes and do smile lightheartedly in other scenes]
• First end credit scene!
• Less darker tone [Movie was pretty colorful; thanks to Joss]

What I DIDN'T liked about the movie?

• Poor CGI [Steppenwolf, Superman's face was distorted in re-shoot scenes. Henry Cavil grew mustache for MI-6 which was removed by CGI]
• Weak Villain plot [Should have shown Darkshield as Avengers showcased Thanos right away in their first ensemble movie]
• Disconnect between scenes [May be too much cuts caused the disconnect between scenes]
• Lame Batman. While other superheros jokes and kicks ass, Batman was lame throughout the movie.
