The wink girl’s Malayalam debut movie ‘Oru Adaar Love’ to release on Valentine’s Day
Priya Prakash Varrier, the most searched celebrity on Google in India in 2018, more than even Sunny Leone, became an internet sensation overnight earlier this year when her video went viral. The video was just a small part of the song “Manikya Malaraya Poovi” from her Malayalam debut movie ‘Oru Adaar Love’. She became the national crush and created buzz just by her cute wink. She even earned the nickname, “The Wink Girl”.
Priya is making her debut in February on the occasion of Valentine’s day next year. It will be a high school drama, directed by Omar Lulu. Omar posted the poster of the film on his Instagram account and mentioned the release date in the caption, “2019 FEB 14 Valentines Release”
The poster features a teacher writing notes on the blackboard in the class and a boy and a girl holding hands in the back.
The film already got a hype through Priya and actor Roshan Abdul Rauf’s viral video a year before its release.
The wink made Priya so famous that her Instagram account was verified when her follower count went up to 1.5 million, and still counting, in the span of a few days. Currently, she has 6.2 million followers on Instagram.
The film even went into a controversy when a resident of Hyderabad filed a complained against the director and Priya for hurting religious sentiments after he misunderstood the meaning of the song.
The song, “Manikya Malaraya Poovi”, is a Kerala folk song sung at weddings in the Malabar region. It is composed by Thalassery K Refeeque while the lyrics are written by PMA Jabbar. Siyadh Shajahan, Noorin Shareef, Arun, Mathew Joseph, Siddique, and others are also part of the film along with Priya and Roshan.
