thre is a difference between a star and actor... its not hat any good actor can become a star.. athinu athintethaaya qualities venam... athu churkkam perku maathre kitullo... pinne star cum good actor ennathu ahtilum churukkam perku maathram kittunathaanu.... U can argue all day, but for htis reason alone Mamm/Mlal will alwayse be a ahead of the likes of thilakan, oduvil etc, howevre good they may have been....

then, Mammootty has always been playing lead all his life.. very few films where he has played supporting roles... even in thalapathi, he was supposedly the lead , but due to certain pressure cooker scenarios, it had to be reversed. but still, he stood head and shoulders above the rest even in terms of pure machoism...
