Yes there are people who thinks like you but that's only a minority. There may be hardly 200 people will buy a Restored Blu-ray. If one of them rip it and upload the movie on Torrent, further sale is over. It is the only reason SAINA hesitated to do a 2k/4k restoration. From the meeting I understand that they want to deliver High quality video to customers but piracy pulling them back. Anyway they agreed to do restoration of one movie. Let's hope it will do Good business for them and they do more movies.

Restoration is a great initiative, but if they are only aiming to recover the expense from disc sales, the initiative will fail at the first shot itself.

They should first have a robust strategy to recover the cost from various sources.
Try to list possible methods of selling the product.

If Chemmeen or OVVG is selected, they can even look for a limited theatre release.

Sale depends on the title. Good titles will sell and be out of stock in a day, poor titles will be on Amazon 299 offer within a month, so depends on which title is being mastered into BD

People have list faith in Saina after the crap DVD5 they released in the last 10 months. Sony lost a lot of money and they stopped releasing anymore titles. MoserBaer quality was better than what Saina and Sony released recently.

They have already proved these words wrong by releasing "remastered" old movies in really bad quality

I think they never released any movies under 'Remastered' category. Let me tell you one thing, they only have Betacam/U matic/Dvcam tape sources. These tapes only have a maximum resolution of 720?576 . DVD resolution is also 720?576. So we can't blame them for quality. They are giving maximum quality they have. Inorder to remaster a movie in at least 1080p quality, they need to acquire the print from lab(which cost minimum 10k). scan the print(which cost 1 lakhs) and finally restoration works & color grading (which cost minimum 2 lakhs). So in total they need to invest minimum 3 lakhs per movie. What if they didn't get at least the investment amount, its a big loss for them. As I told in previous posts, SAINA need to sell at least 2000 copies to get profit from restoration.

They released the titles in DVD5 and called it as remastered since 2017. You can search for the titles on Amazon and check the reviews. I have a few movies, both mastered by Saina and MoserBaer, MB (priced at 34/45) has mastered it better, compared to Saina/Sony (INR 130/140)
