Paul Scholes says Liverpool are Man Utd's biggest rivals, not Man City
Paul Scholes believes Liverpool are Manchester United's greatest rivals, not Manchester City.
Liverpool are level on points with Premier League leaders City with a game in hand as they hunt their first top-flight title since 1990, and their next domestic game is a trip to bitter rivals United on Sunday whom they outclassed in a 3-1 rout at Anfield in December.
Sir Alex Ferguson helped United topple Liverpool to become England's most successful club by winning 13 Premier League titles in his 26 years at Old Trafford, leapfrogging their 18 titles to reach a tally of 20.
City have battled United for the title on various occasions in recent years, but Scholes feels that due to Liverpool's proximity to United's record it remains the most anticipated fixture in their calendar.
"I think it's the biggest rivalry in English football," Scholes said.

Standing 14 points better off than United, the Merseysiders are on course to finish above their rivals for the third time in the last six seasons, having previously only done so once in Premier League history.
