    Default Koode - Review

Koode is a testament to Anjali Menon's abilities as a film maker. With good amount of help from abundantly talented Littil Swayamp, Anjali weaves together a set of dream like images, that will linger in your senses for long. But apart from this visual eloquence, Koode has nothing much to write about home about.

Koode offers very little to complain and costs along breezily till intermission point on the strength of the novelty in its theme (Borrowed from Marathi film Happy Journey) and some spirited instances of situational humor (Watch out for a child?s hilarious rendition of a song in the most unexpected scenario).

But Koode, quietly but quickly disintegrates into a formulaic feature, as Anjali resorts to some hackneyed attempts at emotional manipulation. The half hearted attempts to pander to the ?masses? (The action scene towards the end, a set of baddies) too stand out like a sore thumb in a film, that appears to be real and progressive.

Prithviraj impresses yet again in the emotional sequences, and Nazriya's hyperactive character peps up the entertainment quotient early on. But this film demanded the services of excellent actors and not just adequate ones. The able performer in Parvathi though manages to hold together a weakly written role, that could have easily gone astray.

But Anjali hits the bull's eye with the rest of casting decisions. Right from the younger actors to the elder ones played by Ranjith , Roshan , Koode can boast of fine ensemble that does not miss a beat.

It is entirely up to the audience, whether they could set aside the flaws, for all its strengths. But for those expecting something a thoroughly immersive and fulfilling experience, Koode does not quite make the cut.

    More Feel-Okay than Feel-Good, I would say.
