Varathan...The movie begins with a quote that says God will provide me energy to save my family. The movie plot progressed in such a way that it completely adhered to this statement.
Amal Neerad has reduced the mass of his central character. The story explores the characters emotional depth and they are realistic to the core. Now this is a movie thats different from an entertainer. More than giving an enjoyable ride to the audience, it showcases the dark aspect of Kerala. More about living in a town, where its ruled becomes very specialist and not generic.
Aishwarya and Fahad has donned their roles with perfection. The frustrated life of a couple who finds it difficult to adjust to a silent and scary town is bought out vividly. Little Swayamp has to be given separate credits for his amazing visuals. Dileesh Pothen, Chethan, Arjun has made a wonderful supporting cast. Sharafudheen hands down, a made a striking transformation from his usual comedic roles. The last 20 minutes is the best part of the movie. The only thing i found negative in the movie was there was not even one punch dialogue.. Ethra nalla action undennu paranjalum oru nalla dialogue undel athu cinemaye vere level il ethikum..eventhough valya dialogues adikan patiya plot allenkilum, they could have added one or two good punch dialogues.. And for that reason, to me Big b would be placed above Varathan. Still happy with the movie!!
