Odiyan -strange review

status around 60%.
This is my first review for a film,so please excuse any mistakes.
Prelude:Before anything regarding the movie itself it's very important to set the scene for a movie and its release.As a fan of mohanlal i was looking forward to the movie for well close to a year.The marketing techniques for the movie are second to none as far as malayalam cinema is concerned.And is an example for future promotions.
POSITIVES
Mohanlal:As a fan i was quite satisfied by lalettans performance and sometimes could see some of the painstaking stunts that he performed and the body transformation he tried for his younger look.

Manju:Was a good performance.One of her better performances after returning to the film industry.

BGM:very good and it played an important role in engaging the viewers despite lackluster screenplay and visuals in certain scenes.

Songs:kondoram song was really good but the vfx implementation was lacking.

NEGATIVES

Direction:Considering this to be the debut film of the director I wanted to give him a pass.But the same marketing he tried for the film backfired on his face bigtime.It is good to talk the talk but you have to walk the walk.Iam sad to say he was lacking in many departments inspite of having some of the best technicians that a malayalam film director let alone a debut director gets to work with.There was lack of proper implementation of vfx and stunts in the film.And eventhough the director says it's unfair to compare the film to pulimurugan,me as a fan has only that film to compare in terms of the technicians used and the budget.The director himself has stated its budget is around 50 crores including the marketing.There is a lot more to say but I am stopping cause there is no point crying over spilt milk.

It makes me wonder how better the project would have been under a more a technical and experienced director.
