    Default Peranbu - Review

Climax made the film for me .
It was hard hitting , devastating and shattering. It shook me completely and whatever confusion i had till then regarding how far the film worked for me was answered.

Now coming to cinema it starts really slow . Peranbu takes its own sweet time to find its rhythm with the viewer but eventually it does make a connect.
Frankly i thought the film was way too depressing for my taste. Beyond a point it was stressful to sit through the proceedings.
Especially what with the act of the child actor. It strained me imagining what stress she would have underwent doing a role that was so physically demanding.
The stress of the character piled up on me as a viewer watching her perform.Despite few powerful scenes scattered over at various intervals, the film largely moved on a singular note and as said before it was taxing to sit through.

Really liked how the nature was intervened with the emotions of the characters. That was indeed a idea well conceived.
As a film Peranbu is one of the most daring and brave attempt on indian celluloid . Few scenes redefined the idea of boldness.
Ram's maturity level in handling couple of scenes is infinite and the atmost precision with which he approached some part of the film is remarkable.

Mammooty is terrific in the film. Amazingly subtle , restrained and powerful act. Ram has exploited the performer in Mammooty so deep and this is easily one of the or the best of his in the last two decades. Anjali ameer in a brief role also leaves an impact.
Cinematography is spectacular and Yuvan's music too gel with the overall mood of the film.

Peranbu walks through a subject and its repercussions that is seldom explored in our cinema. The only other film that i can recollect that dealt with sexuality of physically challenged is Kalki cochlein starrer Margarita with a straw.

Overall i liked the attempt and definitely thought it was good till the last 15 mins or so and then there was this power packed ending which changed everything.
