i don't think sethu is a good example to compare north and south cinema tastes... for sethu you had vikram in a career-defining role, till then vikram had no image for himself, so he could do justice to that role... whereas for tere naam, you had the action movie macho salman in a career-retracking role... sallu did his best but was way way away from looking the part of a lost lover boy... then the awkward hair-style was a real put-off... on top of that, scenes where he cries, you never feel for him... then the case of the heroine, when you take such a risky subject, you could have gone for a more well-known heroine which unfortunately bhumika was not... not saying kabir singh will not just contend with openings but be a huge hit or anything, just saying the makers have pulled in a casting coup with shahid and kiara... both are known to perform well, atleast the makers have got that right this time... from baazigar to dev d to johnny gaddar to badlapur, bollywood has successfully experimented with anti-hero heroes... so this movie really needs to be good and strike a chord with the audience....

Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh എന്നിവരുടെ തന്തയായിട്ടു വരും Dev D... anurag kashyap showed it long back and the movie turned out to be a cult... even Bhansali's Devdas had shades of negativity not seen in earlier versions of the same... for tamilians, this so-called outcast rebel is a myth, a rainbow they are chasing, someone they all want to be... in the north, you really have such self-obsessed destructive characters in society... so if this trait is shown genuinely rather than just to shock and make some buck, the movie will have an audience up north....
