A disturbing film which will make you squirm in your seat, a profound, tumultuous experience that ebbs and flows, Moothon is a garland of antagonisms darned together to unveil a world that is never as forthright as it appears to be. The story could have turned into one huge clich?, and there are genre elements that are numbingly familiar, was it not for the exceptionally compelling performance of Nivin in the role of the villainous, demented gangster. His tender, infectious smile in the flashback portions, and his unswerving, rage-filled portrayal as 'Bhai' in Mumbai portions, this will go down as Nivin's most pioneering performance. The supporting cast truly hold your attention throughout, both Sanjana Dipu and Roshan Mathew are absolutely competent.

Geethu Mohandas once again proves her prowess as a flourished filmmaker, delivering a politically vehement film that has the competence to apprise you. When it comes to the narrative, the pace does dip occasionally, nonetheless, what makes Moothon tick is the searing honesty with which it is told. The production values are brilliant, keeping apart the slightly uneven and abrupt cuts, it indeed helps in attaining a texture of horror and jeopardy. Mollywood finally have turned a corner this year, and is ready to churn out films that more faithfully reflect the country we inhabit -- the whole country.

To sum up, Moothon is dark, gritty and absorbing !
