CBI 5 - Non spoiler review

CBI 5 turned out to be just an average / one time watchable fare for me.

Definitely above CBI 4 , but not even close to first 3 parts in terms of narration, thrill and twists.

Some initial thoughts:

*"Basket killings" -The name sounds better than the actual content.

*Length.

*very weak first half (followed by a slightly better 2nd half)

*Incredible screen presence of Mammootty.

*Jagathy scene -emotional to watch

*Highly underwhelming supporting cast & their subpar performances.

One more thing to add :

CBI Diary - Omana murder.
Jagratha - Actress Aswathy murder.
Sethu - Alex serial killing.

Here Basket killings- not that much intriguing case comparing to the above 3.This is the main point.

Funny thing is that many here at forum guessed from the name it will be like dead bodies in a basket or something like that....

Frankly that might have been much much more interesting than what the movie has.

Also most of the time we, the audience ,might participate and have our own prediction regarding who might be the killer.

Here there's nothing for audience to engage like that , and so the twist & motive was bland.

So the case itself doesn't have that exciting element of the first 3 parts.

"സിനിമ ചെയ്യുന്നവർ ആരാണെങ്കിലും കാലഘട്ടത്തിന് അനുസരിച്ച് സ്വയം പരിഷ്കരിക്കാൻ തയ്യാറാകണം.

സിബിഐ 5 നേക്കാൾ മോഡേണായ ഒരു സിനിമ വേറെ ആർക്കും എഴുതാൻ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല"

See these kind of statements could have been avoided by Swamy.

CBI 5 is not bad. It's not that good either. Somewhere in the middle.

I wish someone like Dileesh pothan or Midhun manuel's take on this franchise...
