Thallumala- Strictly for youth and youthful minds

[Movie Lover]

Premise:- All about the character Wasim who lives in Malabar and his chunk of buddies one of them being Lukman who are primarily into street fights . The characters of the film has only one aim- Thallu undakkuka athinu prathikaram cheyyuka. There are many other characters too like the protagonist mother, his father who is struggling with a cinema theatre in a small town in Malabar. Apart from that he also has a girlfriend who is a famous vlogger the character which is done by Kalyani.

Positive of the movie is its camera work specially colour tone and the fights scenes which were choreographed well. Some scenes may remind you about Ajagajantharam which is also about senseless fights... The movie is a perfect feast for youth audiences who love action stunts etc......Tovino, Shine Tom and Lukman performances are other positives of the movie

Negatives:- First half the non linear pattern of story telling will leave many viewers confused. So the first half ends up as an average to below/average product. But second half the mood changes specially towards the climax where it becomes more and more interesting. The other negative is Kalyani Priyadarshan. This is the role of a vlogger /influencer like say Helen of Sparta type. This role requires too much of attitude/swag which Kalyani is lacking somewhere. If it was someone else it would have been more effective. Even a very good actress from outside Kerala would have done this role perfectly. Kalyani is more suited for bubbly Nazriya type characters like Hridayam /Bro daddy.

Overall rating can be 2.5/5 because the movie is enjoyable in many parts so cannot be written off as a disaster.

Box office prospects:- It may be a hit in Malabar areas because I went for the movie in Sridhar theatre Kochi. The major crowd which came there were from Malabar area. and specially the crowd was youth. The producer may make a profit from theatrical share together with rights.. It is impossible for this film to be profitable from theatres alone since the budget of the movie as far as I heard is 20 crores... Since this movie appeals to the youth it will make huge collections during first week itself.. And it will be profitable for overseas distributors since it is doing extremely good business overseas. But long run in Kerala is doubtful

P.S :- Even though this is an average movie if you plan to watch this please watch in theatres itself. Because technically this film is superior with good visuals, cinematography, sound, fights etc. Other than that this movie has nothing new to offer. So if you are thinking of watching on OTT platforms then this might end up as a below average experience

From all reviews they mentioned casting of the actress was a poor choice.
Dileesh pothan oru interview vil paranjitundu oru cinimayude casting Nalla pole poorthiyayal pakuthi work kazhinju ennu.

Sherikkum CBI 5 nalla cinema aayirunnu.

Pinne ithinte karyam paranjal nammal ee vloggers tiktokers reels cheyyunnavare okke kaanarundu like Helen of sparta. Avarkku okke oru swag undu. That is missing in kalyani.. Perhaps if mamta was younger she would have fitted the role perfectly. Among current crop I think Aishwarya Lekshmi can carry off this with ease. Kalyani is only fit for Nazriya kind of roles.
