Hansraj Saxena of Sun Pictures arrested
2011-07-04 10:22:31
Hansraj Saxena, the COO of Sun Pictures, was arrested on Sunday (July 3) night at the Chennai airport, in connection with a complaint of "cheating and fraud" lodged by Salem based distributor TS Selvaraj of Kandan Films.
Hansraj Saxena is one of the movers and shakers and most powerful Kollywood personality during the previous DMK regime.
Police sources say that Selvaraj had filed a complaint on July 1 with the city police commissioner alleging that Sun Pictures had signed a distribution deal with him for Salem area for the film Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai starring Vishal.
The deal was for Rs 1.25 Cr, but Sun Pictures went back on the deal as Hansraj Saxena had distributed the film directly instead of selling the film to him after taking money from Selvaraj. Saxena refused to pay back the amount and he was allegedly threatened.
Following the complaint KK Nagar Police registered a case and arrested Saxena.
He was remanded until July 17. Saxena is also alleged to have been behind the attack on Checkers Hotel, a few months back
