Vedi unit in Thoothukudi, not SA!

A leading newspaper in its entertainment section wrote that Prabhu Deva and the unit of Vedi are “currently in South Africa where they will be shooting two songs in exotic foreign locations.”
But it seems Prabhu Deva and the unit are very much in India and still completing the talkie portion of the film!

The unit is currently shooting in Thoothukudi in southern Tamil Nadu.
It seems they are shooting some crucial scenes in Thoothukudi, with which they hope the talkie portion of the film will be complete.

Then they have to get their visas organised and make travel plans, to shoot the two pending songs in SA.

Mayakkam Enna last schedule in Erode

Selvaraghavan’s romantic musical Mayakkam Enna starring Dhanush, Richa Gangopadhyay and Sundar Ramu is having its last schedule in Erode.

A few patchwork scenes and a romantic song is being picturised on the lead pair.
The film has music by GV Prakash while the cinematography is handled by Ramji. Leading lady Richa had tweeted that for this last song she travelled by road from Mysore where she was shooting for Osthi to Bangalore and took a flight to Hyderabad and from there to Chennai and then to Erode by road!
The song tuned by GV Prakash is said to be a very romantic number and is being picturised in a village near Erode. Cameraman Ramji and Selvaraghavan who had “discovered the virgin fresh location” during an earlier recce is shooting the song using natural lights. Ace choreographer Kalyan Master is directing the song in a different way.
After this five day schedule, the entire shoot of the film will be over. The post-production work will start from September 1 in Chennai. Mayakkam Enna is now slated as a Diwali release.

Shriya- Looking beyond Oomph & Sizzle!

Shriya Saran started out being the no-holds-barred actress. She had it, so she flaunted it.

Whether it was bikinis or miniskirts, she had no qualms about wearing them. Remember Kandasamy and Thoranai? Some say this over-exposure had an adverse effect on her market.

Recently, she received a lot of accolades for her “tragic role” in Jiiva’s Rowthiram. In the film, she played a very believable girl-next-door, the pivot around which the film revolves. She says that it was a conscious decision to do a simple, down-to-earth role and today she is looking out for “meaty character driven roles.”

The actress who shot into fame playing Rajinikanth’s heroine in Shankar directed Sivaji, is one of the biggest survivors in Tamil cinema. Now the actress is hearing scripts and has just one Telugu film opposite Allari Naresh in Telugu.

Shriya who was in Chennai for the launch of Hindu Bridal Mantra 2011 and walking the ramp for noted designer Raghavendra Rathore took off to Tirupati with her mom for an early morning darshan today (Aug 27) . Says Shriya: “Felt blessed after Tirupati darshan, very beautiful and at peace. I make it a point to visit the temple atleast once a month”

The actress will be back in Chennai next week to sign a new film in Tamil. Shriya is tight lipped about it, as she believes the producer and the director should make the official announcement.

Jayaram's Four Friends dubbed into Tamil!

    2011-08-27 11:19:26

The 2010 Malayalam film 4 Friends starring Jayaram, Bobban Kunchacko, Jayasurya and Meera Jasmine is being dubbed into Tamil as Anbulla Kamal.
The only reason why this Saji Surendaran directed film about four friends who are cancer patients is getting dubbed into Tamil is because Kamal Haasan plays a “wink you will miss cameo.” The film was not a success at the box-office.
Kamal appears in an airport scene in the film in which Jayaram is a big fan of the star.

The actor gives a pep talk to the four and discloses how he lost some of his close friends to cancer, and instills confidence in them.

Special Report- 2011 Diwali is going to be a cracker!

    2011-08-27 14:24:47
    Last Updated: 2011-08-27 14:57:42

2011 Diwali (October 26) is exactly two months away, but Kollywood big stars and producers are trying to lock the date.

It is going to be a cracker of a Diwali as some of the biggest films have been lined up for the festival of lights.
Diwali after Pongal is the second biggest festival in Tamil Nadu. There is always a 10 % additional opening for a biggie during the festival season.

And for any star worth his box-office salt, a Diwali release is prestigious.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay will announce officially in Madurai at the audio launch of his M Raja directed Velayudham on Sunday (Aug 2 that the film will be a Diwali treat for his fans!
Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giants has announced through Twitter that his eagerly awaited Suriya starrer 7Aum Arivu directed by AR Murgadoss will hit the screens worldwide on Diwali day.
STR has also announced that his Dharani directed Dabangg remake Osthi is a “confirmed Diwali 2011 release”, and post-production work has started on the film in Chennai.
Ace director Selvaraghavan through Twitter had conducted poll among his followers, to select a date for the release of his Dhanush starrer Mayakkam Enna. Selva now says the film is confirmed for Diwali.
As per trade sources Vishal’s Prabhu Deva directed Vedi is also looking for a Diwali day release.
Concludes top distributor and exhibitor Tiruppur Subramaniyam : “ It is not possible to release five big hero films for Diwali. Where are the theatres to screen them? Today a big film releases in 350 plus screens during festival season in Tamil Nadu, to get an opening. I would say only two biggies can be accommodated for Diwali in a state where only 700 screens are good for releasing new films.”
