Kaithi kandu... kikkidu
First half oru rakshayumilllaaa...thrilling ... after theeran karthi is bacckk !!!
Kaithi
First things first. Kaithi is a very good film overall and you shouldn't miss it. I will strongly recommend.
The best is reserved for the first half. its crazy ....katta gripping thriller mode ....mixed with right essence of mass element ...kiduloski bgm ....sharp edits ...
pulse raising moment kore ondu ...
second half comparatively weighs down ....you have to remind yourself that at the end of the day you are watching a mainstream tamil film and certain things have to be overlooked.
1-2 kathi scenes ...logic can be given rest ....oru commissioner officeril yudha samanam aaya pratheethi undakiyitu public presenceinte onnum kaanikathathu kaanumpo ...ethu entha vellarikka pattanam anno ennu thonam ....athu pole 100 pere ottaku theerkana hero ....kuthi keeryitum cheettunna superhero ....all these does pull down you spirit
ennalum cinemayum high points definitely score above ...
Maananagaram ain't a fav. lack of emotional connect was a hicki for that film ....pakshe ethil work out aayi.
90ies tamil songs vetchu scenes, naayikaye ozhivakiyathu , flash back kaanikathathu , songs ellathathu ellam directorude smartness kaanikumpol mattu chila edathu cliche akiyathu oru compromise ayi anumaanikam.
Karthi is terrific. Narein was fine.
villain ellam spaar. creditsil ulla english songs kidu .

Kaithi is a terrific mass film that, interestingly, shuns some of the major staples we associate with 'mass' films.
lokesh kanakaraj is the guy to watch out for. he, however, could do better with the emotional content. the back-story -- though delivered in dialogue, an interesting choice -- is pretty meh. there are also very generic stretches that look odd in a film like this. still, it's a very compelling watch with Karthi in his elements. the scene where he settles down by the pool with the biryani bucket is one of my favourite mass stretches in the film. it's like he's going to, soon, let out the beast within. at some points, reminded me of Shivankutty and Bhramaram.
saw some bhasha-snehi reviews on social media complaining that Malayalis wouldn't have accepted the 'superhuman' stunts if they were in a Malayalam film. well, we've been on this hypothesis for long -- the best way to know is MAKE one like this. no point churning out Pollachi-flavoured 'colourful', 'festival entertainers' with podi padalam stunts, pass them as mass films and THEN, crib when the others get it right.

Be kind, rewind.
since we don't have a Kaithi thread....
a dark adippadam without songs or a heroine, doing this in Deepavali season... very interesting
