A policeman pretends to be a rowdy to catch the anti social elements. The rowdies do not realize this. This tiny story ran riot in Andhra, came to Madras as 'Pokkiri' and is set to turn Mumbaiwards now.

Yes, 'Pokkiri' is to be made in Hindi and the Hindi re-make rights have been bought by Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor. He has earlier bought several films for the Hindi re-make rights and 'Pokkiri' is his latest.

Salman Khan will do Vijay's role as the cop cum rowdy. He has earlier acted in 'Tere Naam,' the Hindi version of 'Sethu.' When Salman was caught in so many controversies as well as suffering from a string of flops, 'Tere Naam' brought his career back to life. Since then, the Khan has great respect for Tamil films as well as Chiyan.

The Hindi 'Pokkiri' will be directed by Prabhudeva. He is busy right now with 'Shankardada Zindabad.' After its completion, he will start work on 'Pokkiri.'

The heroine is yet to be finalized.

Non-bailable warrant against Jackie Shroff

Actor Jackie Shroff is receiving calls from everywhere- media, associates and friends, as the actor is stuck in a legal tangle. A local court in Mumbai has issued a non -bailable warrant against the actor.

Jackie Shroff confirms the news saying, “There was some problem regarding a business deal of my old movie. The matter was in court but they are pulling it out now. The court has put up a stay on it." He further adds," Its just that my secretary and lawyer reached late at the court. They however, reached the court and the court has passed a stay order now.”

Film personalities have been caught in legal hassles from time to time. The latest one was a warrant issued against actress Sonu Walia in a cheque bounce case and she is still absconding.

Darling remakes ready before the original

This will probably be the first time that a remake of a film is ready completed even before the original film is shot.

While Ram Gopal Varma’s Darling is yet to be completed, the remake versions of the film are already shot. The film is remade in Tamil and Telugu languages and both the versions of the film are directed by Ram Gopal Varma’s assistant director Kona Venkat.

Madhavan plays the lead role in both, the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film. He has all praise for Ramu. He says that Ram Gopal Varma readily agreed to allow them make remake of Darling. He gave them the liberty to make changes in the original script of the film. Shamita Shetty plays a ghost in the remake versions and Madhavan is highly impressed by her performance.

It is said that the Tamil and Telugu versions will be released simultaneously along with RGV’s Darling. Darling stars Fardeen Khan, Esha Deol and Isha Koppikar in lead roles.

ABCL to produce television soaps?

Amitabh Bachchan’s home production ABCL suffered a state of inertia for almost a decade due to immense losses. But now, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd (ABCL) is back in action, as it plans to make a foray into television production.

It is speculated that ABCL will now be producing daily soaps for popular TV channel Zee Television. The company will be investing in family dramas and reality shows, which are now gaining tremendous popularity in the realm of television viewership. It is said that the KBC controversy which compelled Bachchan to quit the show could be one reason that he has decided to give Star India Pvt. Ltd. a miss from his list. So, in all probability, he will be signing papers with Zee Television. Amitabh’s participation in Zee Antakshari and Abhishek playing celebrity judge in Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj only reinforce the possibility of an ABCL-Zee alliance.

ABCL recently produced a play called Lali-Lila. The production house is now looking at the fast-booming television domain to up its chances of success

Dhoni and Sehwag in Hattrick

Director Milan Luthria has an entire song dedicated to the wicket keeper of the Indian cricket team, Mahinder Singh Dhoni in his forthcoming flick Hattrick. The song composed by Pritam goes, “Ek main jatt yamla pagla, ek meri soni, mere dil vich wo rendi hai, uske dil vich Dhoni…”?

The song is a Punjabi folk music written by writer Mayur Puri and Pritam has rendered music. Pritam says, “It’s a funny song, which we earlier composed as a sad and romantic melody. But Mayur thought it didn’t gel with the theme of the film. So we ended up making this dancing track.”

Also when Paresh Rawal was shooting for the promotional music video ‘Wicket Bacha’ for the film Hattrick, he constantly kept on comparing himself with cricketer Virender Sehwag while dancing. He said,” Like Sehwag, I too, don’t have good foot work! Both of us are bad at it. He can’t play better and I can’t dance better.” Now that’s a sixer of a Quote!

Neha says 'No' to Hollywood?


Actors and actresses of regional films would do anything to get into a Bollywood flick. But, Bollywood stars always dream of getting into Hollywood. Of course, their definition of Hollywood is very debatable.

Aishwarya Rai had acted in a two or three English films made by British filmmakers. There are also talks about an American film. Mallika Sherawat made a more authentic but small debut in the Hollywood film starring Jackie Chan. She now is acting in another Hollywood flick.

The latest ambassador for racial unity, Shilpa Shetty might soon star in a film or two abroad.

Neha Dhupia, the controversial former Ms India who has no qualms about getting glamorous or half-naked, has announced that she too was approached by a Hollywood filmmaker but she has refused the offer. She says that she'd rather concentrate on one language and become successful in it than to spread her attention everywhere.

The question is- why is she not talking about the name or identity of the Hollywood filmmaker who had approached her?
