District Court orders stay on #SG250 till copyright case is resolved - TOI
After almost 50 days since the Ernakulam District Court issued a temporary stay on all shoot and promotion activities of Suresh Gopi's 250th film, the court on Wednesday ordered to halt all such activities related to the movie till the copyright case filed by Kaduva scriptwriter Jinu Abraham has been resolved.
Jinu filed a copyright violation case in July alleging that the script of Suresh Gopi's film, which is directed by Mathews Thomas Plammoottil, has been plagiarised from his script. A source from the team of Kaduva, which has Prithviraj in the lead and will be directed by Shaji Kailas, tells us, "The court had four hearings between the two parties and each of them had stated their case. The court ordered on Wednesday that the stay on the shoot and promotional activities of Mathews' film will remain till the case is resolved."
The protagonists of both the movies are named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan and Jinu stated that he had first registered his script with the name. Jinu, who had helmed Adam Joan earlier, had earlier told us that Mathews had worked as his assistant director.
In an earlier interview with us, Jinu had said that he is all for the team of Suresh Gopis film to begin shooting "if they can prove that there is no similarity". I approached the court because it would also give them the chance to submit their script and if there are no copyright violations, let them do their movie and I wish them all the success, said Jinu. Our initial plan was to start Kaduva in July as Prithviraj would be done with Aadujeevitham and regain his physique for this film.
