Thanks vighathakumaran...
So I just finished watching Lal Jose's "Pullipulikalum Attinkuttiyum" in a old theatre and with the annoying videshi malayali audience. Sorry this is sort of a rushed review..
I'm glad to say that it's first time for us to get a malayalam movie much more closer to the date of the actual release. Although it's 1 month later. Last year thattathin marayathu came 1 week before it's dvd release so 3 months later it's actual release in india. So I was indeed happy going to see the film. I cannot tell you how much the malayalis here in the theatre anger me... answering phone calls in the middle of the movie, letting their kids play a game on phones with volume up on full.. See the audio was great how it made you think that voices are coming from behind as if you actual in the film but when the kid is playing a game or crying, you think it's part of the film so it bothers you..
But anyway to the story........
Story:
It's simple and realistic one. Another lal jose type film which is highly lovable. The story about a young man named Chakka Gopan (Kunchacko Boban) and his struggles in life shown in a comedic way. He is always beaten up by the people who get beaten up by his 3 brothers. His 3 brothers are local rowdies who don't work and provide money for the family inwhich Chakka Gopan has to earn money for his mother and 3 bros by getting tourists to visit his Houseboat. The film shows how he falls in love with Jayasree (Namita Pramod) and solves his family problems and tries to solve a problem he got into with the local rich guy Kuriyachan a.k.a the villain(Shammi Thilakan)..
Performances-
Perfect casting by Lal Jose!!..
Chackochan- as usual shined in this variety role. a character made just for him.. evidayo oru marykkundoru kunjaadu dileep touch thongi pakshe kozhapamila
Namitha Pramod- was alright as her role. Way better than what she did in Sound Thoma. Also more likable of a character.
The pullipullikal- Biggest chance for Joju, Irshad and Shiju to perform and they did excellent. They truly are talented. Shiju was that guy I didn't like because of how much serials depress me and angers me, so I can't give a true opinion, he wasn't bad..
Shami thilakan- good role and performance
Harisree Ashokan- glad to see him back.. another fantastic comedy role
Suraj Venjarumoodu- a good comeback.. and had many comedy scenes..
others- did justice to roles.
Positives:
Direction
Music scores
Casting
Chackochan!!!
cinematography
great visuals
pretty much everything to me..
excellent comedies after a long time.
Negatives:
It felt like the film was quite lengthy.
It's not Lal Jose's best work but I enjoyed it more than Spanish Masala and couple other movies..
In total:
I loved everything in this.. nalla oru simple padam.. superb visuals for songs and natural kuttanad is shown in the film throughout
Make-up illatha oru vijaya chithram by Lal Jose... Lal Jose easily makes his movies so simple and allows the audience to connect, to make them say "kozhappamila" alenkil "nalla padam".... so to conclude it's a good one for basic malayali family audiences
RATING: 7/10 (A typical family entertainer which succeeds to entertain you)
