Shankar's 3 Rascals at double the speed

It is official now -like it was reported first by this newspa per. Director Shankar will be starting work on his next, highly anticipated bilingual movie -the remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan. Tentatively titled 3 Rascals, this movie will be produced by Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) in both the south Indian languages.

According to sources, the title for the Tamil version of the movie may be changed later.
The three `rascals' in the Tamil version are Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth (Sriram to Telugu audience), the latter two will be featured in the Telugu version too along with Tollywood star Mahesh Babu. Ileana will play Kareena Kapoor's role in both the remake versions.

Elaborating on the project, the executive producer of the film Raju Easwaran of GFC, says, "We are shooting at one of the popular engineering colleges in Dehradun from December 6 onwards and will be shooting for both versions simultane ously over a period of 11 days."

This means the entire ensemble cast comprising Vijay, Mahesh Babu, Ileana, Jiiva, Srikanth and Sathyaraj will be camping at Dehradun where Shankar has decided to film a few talkie portions and also a part of a song which has already been composed by Harris Jayaraj.

"It is going to be a challenging task for us," adds Raju. Ask him about the rumours floating in Tollywood circles about Mahesh Babu not being too pleased with the other two `rascals' (actors) for the movie, apparently he felt that since both Jiiva and Srikanth are basically from Kollywood the movie would look like the Telugu star is acting in a dubbed version of the Tamil movie! A surprised Raju replies, "This is news to me! I do not want to talk about something which I am unaware of and as you said it must be just rumours."

Unlike Shankar's earlier movies, 3 Rascals, which has Manoj Paramahamsa as the cinematogra pher will be com pleted at double the speed and will release during the summer, adds Raju. A.S.

2 IDIOTS DOUBTFUL IN TELUGU

The 3 Idiots remake is sure to begin in December and the three main leads – Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth have been booked already. But the scenario for the Telugu remake is not that promising as only Mahesh Babu has been finalized till date. He will play the role Vijay does in Tamil.
The buzz we hear now is that director Shankar is contemplating with the idea of casting Jiiva and Srikanth in the Telugu version too.
The entire team, including Sathyaraj, Ileana, Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth will leave for Delhi in December to participate in the shooting. An ideal location in Dehradun has been identified for shooting this film.

Vijay to go for a new look ?

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is working round the clock to complete the shoot of his M Raja directed Aascar Films' Velayudham. The two heroines of the film Genelia and Hansika Motwani are in Chennai, trying to help Vijay complete the film before December 5.

Why is Vijay in such a hurry to complete the film? He wants to join the shoot of his next film, Shankar’s 3 Idiots remake in Tamil which will start rolling on December 6. The buzz is that Shankar is going to give a new look to Vijay for the film.

Last week Vijay completed the pending song in Siddique directed Kaavalan in Lavasa near Pune. He was to do the song with Asin in a foreign locale but due to time factor the unit wrapped it up in India. The star is giving top priority to complete all his prior commitments and start fresh with an all new look for Shankar's film.
