3 Idiots’ Chatur to direct a film
Popular for his Chatur (Silencer) act in 3 Idiots, actor Omi Vaidya is all set to direct a psychological thriller. Talking to the media at the IIFA Awards 2012 in Singapore, Omi made the big announcement ”I am directing a psychological thriller and it’s very different from what I have done so far. It’s very exciting but I can’t tell you anything about it because I don’t want to give it (concept) away.”
When asked whom he plans to cast, Omi refused to reveal any names “It has got some big names attached to it. I can’t really tell you those names right now… hopefully, it will be good and all of you will enjoy it. I might act in the film too.”
Not many are aware that, apart from acting in films like Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Desi Boyz, Players and Jodi Breakers, Omi has previously directed small budget films like ‘Out Of Time’ and ‘Desert Rose’.
While talking about direction, he reveals a secret “I came to Bollywood with an idea to direct. I went to film school in New York University, it just happened that I started acting.”
“I like to do different genres. When you are acting, you are sitting in the vanity van for a whole day and you act for just 5 – 10 minutes and when you direct you are working all day, so directing is much more challenging than acting”
For an actor who became an household name after the release of 3 Idiots, the characters that he has played in some of the other films, hasn’t done justice to his talent. Here’s wishing him the best with his new directorial venture.

June 10, 2012, (Sawfnews.com) - Fresh off the success of Rowdy Rathore, a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu, Akshay Kumar is ready to start filming another South remake, Naam Hai Boss .
Early in the year Akshay, 44, had bought remake rights of Vyshakh's Malyalam film Pokkiri Raja (2010), headlining Mammootty, Prithviraj and Shriya Saran.
Filming will begin in August but Akshay will join the shoot in September after completing major portions of Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again .
Akshay will reprise Mammootty's role of Pokkiri Raja. Prithviraj's part will be reportedly played by Pakistani actor and model Imran Abbas.
The remake will be bank rolled by Ashwin Varde and directed by Anthony D'Souza.
D'Souza and Akshay earlier worked together in Blue (2009).
"I was asked to direct the Hindi version as well. Since I had already committed to a few other movies, I couldn't take it up," Vysakh had said back in January.
There were also reports that Akshay had bought rights of a Tamil song 'Appadi Podu' from film Ghilli to be included in Naam Hai Boss to add that extra sizzle to the remake.

“Sone ki chidiya, dengue malariya. Gurr bhi hai, gobar bhi. Bharat mata ki jai.” The irony in these lyrics hits you hard. The film will hit you harder still.
A lot of mediocrity has been made in the name of political thrillers. It usually has the bad politico, the fearless hero, the heroine who needs to get kidnapped and so on.
In Shanghai, inspired by Z, a book by Greek writer Vassilis Vassilikos, the matter is delightfully complicated.
Imagine watching a film, where you might feel sympathetic towards a murderer, and at another point you don’t know the good guy from the bad. Such is life, where people don’t come with black-and-white tags and often it’s difficult to tell the perpetrator from the victim. Co-writer and director Dibakar Banerjee insinuates this unpredictability of human behavior in his film.
Celebrity social activist Ahmedi (Prosenjit Chatterjee, fab) arrives in a small-town called Bharat Nagar (note the symbolism of the name signifying that the state of this town represents the state of the country). He is here on a mission. The newly proposed IBP (India Business Park) promoting “progress” is forcibly displacing the local people and Ahmedi is here to protest and educate the locals about the repercussions of this project.
The local political party, a part of the coalition, has enough goondas on its payroll to take care of such activists. The film then explores the rigmarole of an enquiry committee, bureaucratic workings, manipulations, and some surprising developments.
TA Krishna (Abhay Deol) comes to Bharat Nagar as the Enquiry Committee Head. His senior (Farooque Sheikh) encourages him to conduct a superficial finding and to close the case as soon as possible. But Ahmedi’s staunch follower Shalini (Kalki Koechlin) is not one to be satisfied with a superficial enquiry. With her and local video cameraman Joginder (Emraan Hashmi) knowingly/unknowingly embroiled in the case, Krishna realizes this not the open-and-shut case he was expecting it would be.
Dibakar Banerjee masterfully adds in humour in the bleakest scenes. There are the funny bits where a ‘neta’ stands against a green cloth, so that the “junta effect” can be digitally added later.
Joginder’s mobile beeping a number that says ‘DreemGirl’. And of course that unbeatable scene - a ball belonging to the local kids bounces inside the makeshift enquiry committee office silencing a heated argument. Also funny, unintentionally of course, is how the politicians start and end conversations with “Jai Pragati” while propagating lawlessness and force.
The excesses that government “servants” are used to is also superbly portrayed by Banerjee using repetitive shots of endless flow of lavish food and tea, foreign postings, and extravagant parties.
The storytelling is further heightened by an extraordinary background score by Michael McCarthy. Music by Vishal-Shekar is a delight. Dexterous editing by Namrata Rao, especially in the second half, heightens the drama.
While the film is slow in the beginning, the story picks up, and from then on it’s a roller-coaster ride. There are some tracks in the film that needed attention and explaining. We are unclear about Shalini’s father who is mentioned several times. While we know he has been jailed for a fraud, we don’t know anything more, except that he seems to have been arrested with an agenda.
Performances are extraordinary. Emraan Hashmi proves to be the film’s scene-stealer, giving the film comedic relief while being equally effective in the serious portions. Kalki Koechlin gives yet another flawless performance; she has proven to be a masterful performer with tremendous screen presence. Abhay Deol is understated and intense at once. Prosenjit Chaterjee is superlative. Supriya Pathak, Farooq Sheikh, Tillotama Shome, Pitobash and Anant Jog give crackling performances. Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Love Sex Aur Dhokha) gives us a film that’s as much a biting political thriller as it is a comment on corruption and the concept of development. This is one of those rare films that is as pertinent as it is compelling. Cannot. Be. Missed!
Rating: Four and a half stars

Hera Pheri 4 Update
A quick update on the next film in the Hera Pheri Series
The second film was titled Phir Hera Pheri, but the 3rd film will be Hera Pheri 4.
Initially, Anees Bazmee was signed to direct the film, but due to some unknown reason, he has opted out. When contacted he said “I am not making Hera Pheri for some reason, Neeraj Vora and Feroz Nadiadwala are making it.”
So it’s confirmed – Neeraj Vora, who directed Phir Hera Pheri will also be directing the third film. Feroz Nadiadwala will be producing it.
As for the cast, the iconic Hera Pheri gang of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty has been replaced with Abhishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh and Nana Patekar. Sources say, Bazmee was unhappy with the starcast, which was one of the main reasons he decided to opt out of the sequel.
A source also adds that, Abhishek will be playing Akshay’s character Raju, while Ritesh will be replacing Suniel Shetty as Shyam. Nana Patekar will reprise the most-loved character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte a.k.a Babu Bhaiya in Hera Pheri 4.

Murder 3
Mukesh Bhatt is all set to launch his son, Vishesh Bhatt as a director with Murder 3, and says the film is very important for the banner.
Talking to IANS, Mukesh said “Murder 3 will be directed by Vishesh. Next month is the 25th year of Vishesh Films and it marks the debut of Vishesh as a director. This film is as important for us as ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ was for Yashraj Films or Maine Pyar Kiya was for Rajshri. This is a very important film for us”
The ‘Murder’ series has been super successful at the box-office; the first film directed by Anurag Basu was released in 2004, the second came in 2011 and the third will have a new star-cast. Randeep Hooda has replaced Emraan Hashmi and Aditi Rao Hydari will play his love interest.
“Murder 3 will be a different film. Unlike Murder and Murder 2, Murder 3 will not be an erotic film but will have sensuality. Last two films focused much on single screens, Murder 3 will be an up market film for the multiplex as well” said Mukesh Bhatt.
90% of the film will be shot in Cape Town, South Africa............
