Bombay high court rejects IT plea, ends @BeingSalmanKhan tax trouble !
Monday, Jun 13, 2011,
Bollywood actor Salman Khan received a breather after the Bombay high court last week dismissed an appeal filed by the income tax (IT) department against its tribunal ruling in the actor’s favour in a dispute over alleged tax evasion of nearly Rs4 crore.
A division bench of Justices JP Devadhar and RP Sondurbaldota on June 6 heard the IT’s appeal against Income Tax Appellate Tribunal’s (ITAT) June 2009 order which ruled in Khan’s favour. The tax dispute was for assessment year 2000-01 in which Khan declared his income at Rs9.32 crore. However, a reassessment put his income at Rs13.61 crore.
The details of this income were revealed in post-assessment searches by the IT at the premises of his then-secretary Sudhir Wahi on November 23, 2000. The reassessment was opened on the basis of cash receipts worth Rs2.45 crore being recovered from producers Shyam Bajaj and Bobby Kent and also cash loaned to producer KC Bokadia along with the interest earned.
Khan challenged the assessing officer’s order with the Commissioner of Income Tax-Appeals saying no notice mandatory under Section 143 (2) of Income Tax Act was issued to him before starting the assessment proceedings. The CIT-A upheld the order but granted relief to Khan. IT then appealed before ITAT which in June 2009 ruled in Khan’s favour.
“In the present case, the reassessment year involved relates to the period prior to the insertion of Section 292 BB (under this, if an assessee is cooperating with the assessment, issue of notice is not required),” the judges wrote, dismissing the IT’s appeal. Advocates Vimal Gupta and Padma Diwakar argued for the IT.

It’s all in the stars! @BeingSalmanKhan had been offered a jaw-dropping Rs 20cr to make an appearance at the Reddy…!
Excerpt frm news!!
http://cms.mumbaimirror.com/portalfi...0611/02-05.jpgmeanwhile, the wedding of the year lived up to its ostentatious promise in Hyderabad. Business tycoon GV Krishna Rao and parliamentarian Subbarami Reddy’s granddaughter Mallika’s Rs 1,000 crore wedding had all the ingredients of a mega carnival - the controversial wedding invites with the national emblem, the Bollywood presence (though your diarist has learnt that every actor was well compensated for every minute spent shaking hands with invitees and shaking a leg or two),
The star of the season was in fact missing in action. Your diarist has learnt that Salman Khan had been offered a jaw-dropping Rs 20 crore to make an appearance at the wedding, which he politely turned down.

However, our diva is game for working with her Bollywood co-stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Infact Mads has become a huge fan of Sallu especially after his recent movies like `Wanted’ and `Dabangg’.
She even has a special request for filmmakers. “It’ll be wonderful to work with Salman and Shah Rukh again…three of us together in one film. I hope some good script comes our way. It’ll be so much fun”, says Madhuri recalling the chemistry she created with the duo in `Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’.
Madhuri starred opposite SRK and Sallu in the romantic drama `Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’ in the late nineties. She’s also individually worked with SRK in Anjaam, `Dil toh Pagal Hai’, Koyla, Gaja Gamini and Devdas while she epitomized romance in `Sajaan’, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, opposite Salman.
“I am aware of the growing popularity of Salman these days. I have seen his recent films. My kids just love it. Salman deserves every bit of his super success today. I really want to work with him if there’s a script” she admits candidly.

Salman is God: Anurag Kashyap!! “@ankash1009 is trolled by @BeingSalmanKhan’s fans after the release of Shaitan.
Jun 13, 2011
Anurag Kashyap is trolled by Salman Khan’s fans after the release of Shaitan.
The producer received outstanding response from the critics but Salman’s fans have been criticizing the film after its poor collection at the box office.
It is known that Salman’s fans took a disliking towards Anurag after he posted some rude remarks on his social networking site around Dabangg. Therefore, after the below average collection of Shaitan, Salman fans have started commenting on how Ready is better than Shaitan.
Anurag, who couldn’t take this lying low, said, “I am happy that Ready is a hit. So please stop trolling me about it because I am not even trying to compete with it. I am not fighting with anyone.” He further explained that there are no hard feelings between him and Salman and everything has been created by fans.
Salman fans are also angry about Anurag deciding to release his next That Girl in Yellow Boots on the same day as Salman’s Bodyguard. But Anurag is unperturbed. He said, “Salman is God, I accept that but I am a non believer so I can’t help it.”
We wonder what Salman will have to say on this
