The makers of "Charlie" released the "Chithirathira" song from the blockbuster movie on Wednesday, 27 January, as a tribute to late actress Kalpana, who passed away on Monday after suffering a heart attack. The song "Chithirathira", released by Muzik247, features Kalpana, Dulquer Salmaan and Chemban Vinod.
The late versatile actress' last movie was the Martin Prakkat directorial, in which she portrayed the role of Mary, a woman affected by AIDS and forced into prostitution by her own husband. Even though she did a small role in the movie, Kalpana was appreciated for her performance. Incidently, she was seen committing suicide in her last movie and her portrayal in "Charlie" is sure to haunt her fans.
"This sea doesn't want the salt in your tears," Dulquer is heard saying to Kalpana in her last scene in the movie.
Dulquer, who was devastated to hear about the death of Kalpana, shared his memories about the actress. "Devastated to hear about Kalpana chechi. Ive known her since I was a toddler and she would always tell me stories about my childhood. At a loss for words. When we shot the boat scene where Charlie kisses Mary, I remember her being so happy. She kept saying I would never give her kisses as a child. I couldn't give you any kisses then, but now, I am giving you a thousand kisses instead, (sic)" Dulquer wrote on his Facebook page.
Politicians and celebrities, including Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chenithala, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Dulquer, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Anoop Menon, Captain Raju, Riyaz Khan, Mukesh, Ganesh Kumar, Sai Kumar, Maniyanpilla Raju, Manoj K Jayan, Menaka, Renji Panicker and KPAC Lalitha, Siddique, Kunjan, Bala, Janardhanan, Kavya Madhavan, Lalu Alex, Mamta Mohandas, Suresh Babu, Manoj K Jayan, directors Sibi Malayil, Siddhique, Viji Thampy and Thampi Kannanthanam paid homage to Kalpana before her cremation at Thripunithara Puthiyakavu public crematorium on Tuesday, 26 January.
