Eleven years ago, we saw the death of Kuthiravattam Pappu that marked the end of an era in Malayalam cinema. Pappu conquered the heart Malayalam cinegoers with his unique style and perfect comedy timings. He always made his presence felt and leave mark with any roles that he dons. His role in the movies Thenmavin Kombathu, Vellanakalude Nadu, Manichitrathazhu shows his ability to make his presence felt, even if he is doing only a cameo. How can one forget his one liners; his one lines like “Taski Viliyeda”, “Thamaraseri Churam”, “Ippo Sariyakkitharam”, had made its own palce in list of Malayalam idioms. Pappu born as Padmadalakshan in Feroke in Kozhikode was the only son of his parents. Pappu’s family moved to Kuthiravattam while he was child. Pappu started his career as a drama artist, and his role in the drama ‘Samasya’ fetched him the Best Comedian Award. Pappu made his debut in movies with Moodupadam directed by Ramu Ramu Karyat. His first noted role was in the movie Bhargavi Nilayam. Pappu died in a private hospital in Kozhikode following a cardiac arrest on 25th February 2000.
