The former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been confirmed as the new manager of Internazionale. The Portuguese has signed a three-year contract with the Nerazzuri, and will work alongside his former Chelsea colleagues Rui Farias, Silvino Louro and André Vilas-Boas at the San Siro. Giuseppe Baresi, previously director of Inter's youth programmes, will be Mourinho's assistant.
"The whole Internazionale organisation takes great pleasure in welcoming Jose Mourinho and his colleagues," read a statement on the Inter website. He will be officially unveiled tomorrow at a press conference at 11.30am local time.
Mourinho left Chelsea in September last year after his side's 1-1 draw with Rosenborg at Stamford Bridge. During his time in west London Mourinho won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup, though the Champions League crown he won at Porto in 2004 eluded him.
Inter, this season's Serie A champions, dismissed Roberto Mancini last month despite their league success. Mourinho will be charged with bringing European success to the club, who were beaten by Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League this year. His arrival in Milan is likely to increase the speculation over the future of several of his former Chelsea players, particularly Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Ricardo Carvalho.

Manchester United must face the real possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo has played his final match for the club after the Portuguese winger publicly declared his intention to join Real Madrid at the end of the European Championship.
Speaking from Portugal's training camp in the Swiss city of Neuchatel on Wednesday, Ronaldo made a keenly awaited statement on his future. The 23-year-old stated that he wanted to leave Old Trafford to sign for the Spanish champions if they made good on their promises of world record transfer fees and wages. Spanish media reports have placed the value of a Madrid offer to United at €100m and the player's salary at £15m a year.
"I want to play for Real Madrid, but only if it is true they are eager to pay me and Manchester United what they have been saying they will," said Ronaldo in an interview with the respected Brazilian website Terra. "However, it does not depend on me."
The issue of Ronaldo's future has been the dominant feature of Portugal's European Championship training camp, overshadowing the team's preparations and seeing questions raised about the player's state of mind. Hoping to prevent inquests at national team press conferences and post-match mixed zones, Ronaldo insisted that he would not speak about his choice of club again during the tournament.
"It is important to send a message," he said. "From now on I will not talk again about this until the end of the Euros. It is not worth asking me because I will not reply."
United have repeatedly stated that they will not allow Ronaldo to move this summer, but the club may now have to improve the five-year contract they agreed with the forward in April 2007. Given the scale of Madrid's offer, the player can expect to comfortably exceed the net €10m that Michael Ballack receives from Chelsea each year.

Now even Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend is all of a tizz about whether her man's future lies in Manchester or Madrid. "I don't know what he's going to do," Nereida Gallardo said yesterday, when one of the countless Spanish journalists who have gathered for a scent of the player at Portugal's Neuchâtel base, near Geneva, posed the all-important question.

She might be uncertain but perhaps everyone else who is feeling an emotional attachment to Ronaldo and Manchester United should stop swooning and think the unthinkable: that it is actually time to be done with it and let Ronaldo go. No, Old Trafford won't be the same for a while when he's taken his quiff and his red boots out of town. There is an unmitigated thrill about the player's style for all who observe United – and for those writers who linger in the players' tunnel in search of the thoughts of a player or two on European nights, he is the one who will stop while others march on, even if the net result rarely departs from his belief that "I can get better and better". Consider the mind-boggling sums of money being talked of, though. A prevailing view in Madrid has it that Real president Ramon Calderon is ready to embark on a €100m (£78m) project to bring the player to the Bernabeu and has made it clear to Ronaldo's advisers that he will not come looking again. Even the more realistic figure of £45m would enable Sir Alex Ferguson to replace Ronaldo – at £12m David Bentley would be a fine prospect – and find the striker he so badly needs. Dimitar Berbatov at £30m suddenly starts to look affordable, or else Lyon's prodigious Karim Benzema, who would probably be in a similar bracket. They might actually appreciate being in Manchester, too, which Ronaldo patently doesn't.
United's chief executive, David Gill, indicated yesterday that the club's fans could "expect something" in the transfer department when the European Championship are concluded but do not let it be said that United's transfer kitty is a bottomless pit. This is a club, remember, which made losses of £58m last year after the £42m in interest was repaid on the loans the Glazer family took out to buy the club in 2005. Ronaldo will never fetch a better price for Gill. Just moving into his prime at 23, injury-free and the source of such giddy excitement that no-one has quite got down to analysing his faults yet. One missed penalty (in Barcelona) was an aberration; a second (in Moscow) a coincidence; one more will start to look like a fraility.
Who has woken up to the fact he has still not truly delivered in times of adversity? Not many. That first-half and headed goal in Moscow do not make up a case for the defence. When Chelsea tightened things in the second half he was back in the shadows. Ronaldo is at his apotheosis because a mesmerised world still only has eyes for his delights – the outrageous backheel through Martin Laursen's legs against Villa in March and the free kick whose swerve defied physics against Portsmouth two months earlier.
Ms Gallardo – a Spaniard, lest it be overlooked – is not the only individual who might just feel more settled by the player moving out to Madrid, either. Wayne Rooney, who does not tend to invite comparisons with models too often, has just completed a season during which, for the first time since he burst on to the scene at Everton six years ago, he has failed to exceed his previous season's goal tally. It is down to form and fitness but also to the place he has assumed in Ronaldo's shadow. Rooney has become the midfielder, left-winger, chief cook and bottlewasher while his team-mate shines. If Ronaldo leaves, he might just emerge and flourish too. United owe him the attention. Rooney is the man who has said this season that it will probably be United for life for him.
Gill was attempting to deflect away questions about Ronaldo yesterday when he said that it was of no consequence that the player would probably not be on the club's tour of South Africa and Nigeria next month. "We are Manchester United, champions of Europe," he said. Quite so. A club far, far bigger than one young man.

Football exclusive: KAKA DREAMS OF PLAYING FOR UNITED

World Player of the Year, Kaka, has declared his dream for playing for Manchester United in an exclusive interview with a local Milan radio station. The news will come as a pleasant surprise to the European Champions amidst uncertainty about Cristiano Ronaldo's future. It is said that the hierachy at United see Kaka as the only replacement for Ronaldo, should he leave.

Speaking from his home, Kaka revealed, "I love Milan. I've had a great time here, won the Champions League and some great memories. But football is all about challenges and I feel I'm ready for a new one."

After Milan's failure to qualify for this years Champions League many pundits felt this was Kaka's chance to move on.

"I'm young and at the peak of my football and want to play at the biggest level. The Premier League is the best league in the world and it'd be fantastic to be a part of that. And obviously Manchester is the best place to be at right now. They are European Champions, so it's fantastic no? And when I played there last year, it was a great atmosphere." Kaka added

The opportunity to play with the stars at United is an added attraction. "United have some great players. Giggs and Scholes are legends. Then there's Rooney. And also Anderson who is a good friend of mine."

And when asked if he'd like to play at United his answer was straightforward, "Yes, how can anyone say no? They are European Champions. It will be a dream come true."

This news will no doubt shock Carlo Ancellotti who has just recently pledged his future to Milan. But Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt sleep easier tonight, knowing that should his star man leave there's another eager to take his place

High chances of Ronaldo wearing the white-n-white of RM next season.. Personal terms seem to have been agreed upon, and now the clubs might have to sit n talk..

But Ferguson is adamant, he is not going to let him off even if it means, he has to make CR a spectator.. So much for stubborness..

Personally, Do hell with CR.. No one and NO ONE is greater than the club.. There has been greater players who have played for Man U and left and Man U have with stood all those.. So if CR goes today, another CR will arise.. thats all.
