Fiery models scorch Kochi ramp
Kochi: Fiery catwalks are no longer the monopolies of bigger metros like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. Giving Kochi its rightful place in India's fashion map, the opening show of Kochi International Fashion Week saw the big names in Indian fashion industry scorching the ramp. With the likes of Parvathy Omankuttan, Shabir Ali, Sameer Singh and Natasha Suri showcasing for internationally renowned designers, day one was a real treat for fashionistas.
As expected, each design in James Ferreira opening collection was distinctively unique. Models in stylish kurtas, tongue-in cheek T-shirts, sexy shorts, baggy Bermudas stole the limelight. Former Miss India Natasha Suri, was his showstopper. An impressive line up of super models headed by Arjan Bajwa displayed his contemporary men's wear collection that was largely inspired by traditional dress patterns like the dhothi.
Hari Anand show that followed, saw a galaxy of celebrities walking the ramp. Malayali's own Ranjini Haridas, was the show opener. International models like Shabeer Ali, Sameer Singh, former Miss India Ushoshi, Former Miss India Universe Sriya and Malayali model Dr Rajiv Pillai dazzled on the ramp. Mollywood stars Muktha and Kailash also joined them, displaying Hari Anand 'Resort Wear' collections. Designs lavishly adorned with buttons and hooks were his highlight.
With the display of Archana Kochar's collection, which showcased feminine charm in a conglomeration of scarlet, ivory and ebony hues, the curtains were drawn.
If reports flying in from Casino Hotel are to be believed, what is unseen seem sweeter. With Kankana Rawat, Sonali Segal, Swetha Menon, Suhasini Maniratnam and show ambassador Mamta Mohandas all set to scorch the ramp in the next two days, KIFW is sure to rock.
