We probably won't dominate possession as much as we did against England and Ireland, but that's simply because we will be playing opponents who, in my opinion and as results have proved, are stronger. It will be a great challenge

Spain seemed to be losing its sheen. There did not seem to be anything particularly mesmerizing about their play. Alves, Pepe and Coentrao were able to deny the armada which shows that the Spanish attack is also penetrable. Xavi seemed tired and old for the game. Iniesta did try up some good moves but failed miserably. Even Portugal seemed to be content in getting the ball out of their half rather than ending it up inside the opposite posts. Ronaldo did have chances but wasted them as a player of his standard in such a profile game should do. Spain relied on its triangular game-plan without a solid striker whereas Portugal relied on its solid striker with no particular game-plan in mind.
Portugal
