Planning poor aanu ennu sammathikkunnu. Pakshe athum Covidinu shesham aanu. Athinu munne okke festival time best aayirunnu
Respectful doesn't mean you pat their backs for every thing. Ithinu appuram criticism bollywood nu kittunund especially from their biggest tracker boi. Infact bollywood is just like malayalam industry till now.. They have an industry hit in pathan, a low budget blockbuster like romancham in kashmir files. They had another ranbir kapoor movie being a hit. And now vicky kaushal movie being a hit.. These are all not small name sake hits either. And no other language movie is in their top 5 list either.
Right now the only big budget hyped movie confirmed for release this yr is kok. With our poor planning we might not even have great pooja Or Christmas releases, allengil ellam orumich verum
If you think that the only big budget hyped movie is kok then you are wrong. We have Valiban , Jithu Madhavan FAFA film, NP Adeni film and ARM which is confirmed for release this year.
And when you talk about Bollywood you should understand that this is the biggest industry in India. Even an industry of that size and market is struggling to bring audiences to theatres. Compared to our two big hits they may have three or four . Thats all . So when Mollywood has had two big clean hits that too Kerala being a small state and Malayalam being one of the smallest industries in India.
When I talk about Kannada industry you do not have an answer. Can you name one hit which released in 2023. In Karnataka box office too the top grossers are other language films like Pathan , PS2 etc. Even 2018 collected around 7-8 crores in Karnataka box office which is much more than many normal Kannada movies. So dont you think its more embarrasing for them. They do not have a single Kannada movie among their top grossers but we have two of our movies in top two. Other language films in top three, four and five are way behind these two Malayalam films
And Punjabi industry which has a very good overseas/worldwide market has had only two hits just like us but not a single movie which entered 50 crore club. Marathi and Bengali not a single movie succeeded at box office.
You are just picking up one Tamil film industry which had comparitively more hits than any other industry in India and pinpointing our industry
But I dont say you are completely wrong . One thing I agree with you is lack of planning after Covid pandemic. We saw that for 2022 Onam and 2023 Vishu-Easter-Eid. That can be improved. For that there should be a strong action from theatre owners too rather than going on strike. They should demand good movie.
Producers and theatre owners should work together and plan together to release festival movies on time.
KBO gross 5 cr vannaal share 2 cr...budget below 2 cr aanennu entha urappu...99% chance for it to be more than that...ini already rights vittupoya other areas fig also koottanam ennanu ningal parayunnathenkil aviduthe share terms are different. engane nokkiyaalum 4 cr budget undenkil thanne 10 cr WW gross venam aa share kittaan..
10 cr aanu hit aavanulla universal bench mark ennu aaru paranju? Oru cheriya film aanekil 10 cr eduthaal BO hit ennu vilikkaam...athyavashyam budget ulla padam aanenkil limit maarum...
Marakkar grosser 22 cr+ in KBO and Mamangam close to 20 cr (exact numbers ormayilla)..but both are considered BO disasters..because they are huge films by our industry standards..
Churukki paranjaal ithre ullu..a movie being a BO hit and profitable are two different things..BO hit ennu vilikkaan minimum collection enkilum BOil venam...profitable aayal pora...otherwise Sathosh Pandit can make a movie for 5 lakhs and with some negative publicity through social media get a theatre share of 10 lakhs. It can be called a blockbuster (200% returns).
I never said anything about kannada Or punjabi cinema. I only mentioned kannada cinema because you were saying I support tamil cinema because I live in tn. You took so much effort to analyse kannada cinema, ah effort tamil cinema follow cheyyan edthal manasilakum that they are genuinely doing well this yr and that I have no reason to hype it.
Compared to it or not, having 3 other language movies in the top 5 kbo is embarrassing.. Bahubali, rrr, kgf pole across industries bb onnum ayirunnila those 3 movies. In fact they had low collections, enittum if malayalm movies couldn't break it, that is not good. Poor planning is just an excuse. I'm just hoping for a much better second half. Jagadeesh, mukesh, siddique kootukettu industry hit and Blockbusters thanne team aanu.. And their movies are evergreen.... 3 months kazhinjal aarum orkuka polum cheyyathe Neymar ayittu compare cheyyuneth sheri alla.
First of all comparing Tamil and Malayalam industry does not make any sense. Tamil industry from the time it originated is ten times the size of Malayalam industry. Compare size of Kerala state with other states.
And you should think that in spite of being a small state Malayalam film industry is fourth or fifth largest in India.
So you cannot expect a Malayalam movie to collect as much as a Tamil movie. Industries comparison:-
1) Tamil industry:- Tamil Nadu and big films worldwide market. Watched by people in Kerala Tamil Nadu and AP and worldwide specially Vijay and Ajith films. Blockbuster films have a potential of 300-500 crore worldwide- hit films around 150-200 crores worldwide
2) Telugu industry:- Andhra and Telengana itself a very big market. Apart from that a big market in US and canada and a decent market in rest of world. Blockbuster films have a potential of 500-600 crores worldwide and hit films 200-300 crores worldwide
3) Kannada industry:- A very huge domestic market which is much bigger than Malayalam films . But their outside Karnataka and overseas market is low compared to other three south languages(KGF and kantara are exceptions) Blockbuster films around 80-90 crores worldwide Superhit films around 50 crores and hit films around 15-20 crores worldwide
4 Malayalam industry:- Smallest domestic market in South india but a very strong overseas market in middle east and some places like Karnataka where Malayalis live. But it is yet to catch up in full capacity in other places other than Kerala and Middle east. All time Blockbuster films collect around 70 crores worldwide , super hit films around 40 crore worldwide and hit films around 15-20 crores worldwide and average hits around 10 crore worldwide depending on the budget
5) Marathi films:- They have a good market within Maharashtra but face competition from Bollywood. But their all time blockbusters collect around 40-50 crores. The drawback of this industry is that they do not have a superstar which has a minimum gurantee of initials like in South Indian movies
6) Bengali films:- Their market is restricted within West Bengal. Collections are very low. A blockbuster film collects maximum 15 crore
7) Punjabi films:- Their market is mainly punjab and overseas specially US and Canada. Their hits collect 15-20 cr worldwide and blockbusters around 40-50 crores
The above stats are for normal films not once in a blue moon wonders like BB or KGF or RRR.
And I do not believe in these temporary phases. This year may be good for Tamil industry but next year there might be a turnaround next year. Last year was excellent for Kannada industry but first half of 2023 was disastrous with not a single hit.
There has been times when Malayalam industry had a higher success rate than Tamil. There is nothing to be embarrassed about all these. If you still feel shameful about Mollywood industry then I cannot help it. You can go on crying....
Malayalam industry had a consistent success rate during 2022 with around 13-14 films being a hit means every month there was a hit but it did not have a '2018 movie' kind of hit last year.
In 2022 Bollywood was the worst with just one or two films being hits
These things change every year....
