Salman takes a dig at Sony TV

Salman Khan likes to take a dig at those close to him.
When his home production, Hello Brother flopped, he told reporters that he saw the film only on cable because it was in and out of the theatres so fast.
On June 2, during a promotional event for his upcoming television show, Dus Ka Dum, the joke was on Sony Entertainment Television.
When the anchor asked Salman how excited he was for the show, he replied, "I'm not excited but it's the Sony TV guys, who are excited." Watch this video for more!
Dus Ka Dum will premiere on June 6, at 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays on Sony Entertainment Television.

The star is really making sure that his debut on small screen with Sony’s Dus Ka Dum makes a big impact on the history of reality shows. Following is what the actor has recently written in his blog in order to promote his show…

Boney Kapoor's son Arjun played as the first contestant and won ten crores! Computers work to precision and in my informal approach, I had to see that the elaborate arrangements were not disturbed.

The first thing I realized was that in this format, man and machine had to work in tandem. Even a little turn out of sync can bring about this loud deafening noise. It's like conducting a symphony with an invisible baton.

My first session of feeling the equipment didn't go well but the well experienced Babu (yes, I too began calling Siddhartha by the name he's comfortable with) was sure that it was a good beginning.

Probably they had seen worse or they had no high expectations from me. It's all about comfort, that's it. However, much my cool exterior may fool everyone, I know myself. I am very comfortable with moving machines that throb with life but steel cold gigantic computers rattle my nerves!

My problem was how to be spontaneous amidst all these complicated machines and mechanisms.

I follow my impulses and spontaneity is the watchword for me. Most actors tend to be conscious and competitive.

I never bother about stealing scenes from co-stars or outshining others. I have done a lot of stage shows all over the world. I discuss and disclose my ideas freely.

If a colleague says he'd like to use one of my exciting ideas of stage entry or exit, I willingly let them. My interest is in the overall impact of the show. Just as I think a lot about the impact of my film in totality.

But, Babu is a perfectionist. How do I convince him that my charm lies in being imperfect? And this is what connects me with people. I am as imperfect as my fans are. And nothing would want to make me change that.

We began the mock show in his presence and he got so involved, he wanted to play the contestant! The questions were so funny yet intriguing and we began having some serious fun.

In our day-to-day life, we often discuss mundane things with a spare sprinkling of profundity. It reminds me of Charlie Chaplin who once said that “Life in a snapshot is a tragedy, in a long shot its comedy.”

In the next few sessions, my brother Sohail, sisters Alvira and Arpita, participated as contestants. I was very happy that director David Dhawan, too, liked the format and agreed that most questions should be hilarious and not necessarily intelligent. Friend producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Director Anil Sharma, too, gave their inputs.

As a star of the masses I have always admired and connected with common people. I believe they are and will always be the fountainhead of national energy.

Mumbai’s not too hot for Salman Khan to cycle from Film City in Goregaon to his home in Bandra. “I love cycling. And what do I have to fear? Sun stroke?” he laughs when asked about this.

The whole six-pack fever doesn’t impress Salman, too. “Six-pack is the term guys who’ve just got into fitness use. The real men... we say ribbed.” The actor was responsible for bringing bulging biceps and toned physiques into vogue. “There’s a gym at every corner, they should pay me a royalty for this,” adds the popular muscle man who is now set to enter the small screen with a game show.

What prompted him to be a TV host? “When you are watching a film, you know that a person is [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]acting[/COLOR][/COLOR]. Here you can’t put on an act. There are no scripts, no dialogues. The real person reaches across to the audience. The small screen is as big as the big screen.” He enjoys interaction with contestants. “I have met some fantastic people. I ask them whatever I want and they ask me whatever they want. I loved answering their questions,” he says. Why, despite his image as an action hero, did he opt to host a [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]game [COLOR=blue ! important]show[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]? “It’s just the image that remains now. Legs, back, everything hurts. So I’d rather take it easy,” he laughs.

But Salman isn’t the only actor on the small screen. Shah Rukh Khan’s playing a host, while Akshay Kumar’s action-oriented show is all set to be launched. So, is the competition heating up? “Competition [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]hai[/COLOR][/COLOR] kahan? I want competition, but no one’s giving me any,” Salman says, adding, “It’s good if we all do well. There are people who wish ill for others, but that’s not cool.” Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan, have turned directors. Salman, however, prefers to do one thing at a time. “Ek kaam acche se karo, bas. But there’s a shortage of good directors. If Aamir and Ajay have scripts for me, and if I like the scripts, I can act in them,” he says tongue-firmly-in-cheek.

How does it feel to be Salman Khan? “It’s a great feeling. But I don’t let it go to my head. There will be a time when that won’t be there. I shouldn’t get used to it otherwise I’ll go mad. I enjoy it and thank God for it,” he says. Does he fear losing his fame and success? “First, I don’t fear anything. And second, my name is Salman Khan. All this talk of who’s the Shahenshah, Badshah and King of Bollywood is of no consequence. All this is bonus. I never wanted all these things,” he says firmly.
