DON has an excellent hold on it's first Monday in TN . Recently films other than KGF 2 have struggled to perform on weekdays, some of them even after weekends had a strong trend. Don has comfortably passed the Monday test and will likely post a big final number. The Monday number was similar to that of RRR, which went on to gross nearly Rs. 45 crores after its day four. A similar performance for Don will give it a final number of Rs. 75-80 crores in Tamil Nadu, which will be an excellent total.
The film has opened well internationally too, with $1.80 million (Rs. 14 crores) weekend. The worldwide opening weekend was Rs. 48.50 crores approx. It crossed Rs. 50 crores mark yesterday, with a global total of Rs. 56 crores through Monday. Internationally Malaysia and Gulf were the top markets with $520K and $450K respectively as of Monday.

DON continued to impress at the box office as it picked another Rs. 4.50-4.75 crores approx on Tuesday, of which Rs. 3.75 crores approx came from Tamil Nadu. The drop in collections on Tuesday from Monday was less than 20 per cent, which is a very good hold considering the movie already held strongly on Monday. The five-day total gross in India stands at Rs. 44.50 crores, with the movie heading for Rs. 52 crores in the first week. Where the film is going to reach in the full run, largely depends on the second weekend but for now Rs. 85-90 crores full run in India seems very likely, which will be easily be the biggest for Siva.

The film is performing very well outside Tamil Nadu. The Telugu version of the film, released with the title ‘College Don’ is picking up steam, as it recorded Monday and Tuesday par opening day, grossing Rs. 50 lakhs on each day. The five-day collections in Telugu states are Rs. 3.10 crores, earning Rs. 1.20 crores share. In Karnataka also film crossed Rs. 3 crores mark and is already a profitable venture for the distributor with good holds on weekdays.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did very well at the box office on day one collecting around 13.5-14 crore nett with fantastic business at multiplexes all over India. The business in the South and Eastern markets (except West Bengal is comparatively lower than expected but still good. The collections were very good across the Hindi belts be it Rajasthan, CI or Gujarat / Saurashtra.
The opening is second best to Sooryavanshi if we count only original Hindi content and fourth best if we count all the Hindi content which includes KGF 2 and RRR. It has comfortably beaten the numbers of Gangubali Kathiawadi which was a HIT film and a bigger film film than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. It is basically the highest non holiday opening for original Hindi content post the pandemic.
It is also the highest opening for Kartik Aaryan beating Love Aaj Kal which was 11.50 crore nett but in fair value that film would be around 7.5-8 crore nett as it released on Valentines Day. Pati Patni Aur Woh opened at 8.3 crore nett so this 13 crore nett is a considerable jump from that number pushing the star status higher
Most importantly this was badly needed for the industry as it shows that the audience will come out if the film offers entertainment and has a wide appeal. The last two months have seen films bite the dust with audience not even giving them a chance as they become more selective as to which film to go to the cinema for. The film has given a huge boost to the industry as the audience comes for the youthfull pairing of Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani with a huge HIT song and the film also had better marketing by T Series compared to most releases post the pandemic but it is possible a HIT song allowed this to happen or looked like it was happenning.
The film should show a good jump today at multiplexes while on Sunday the single screens where it has been lower on day one will also come on board and it will be a very good weekend. the other release Dhaakad is a total disaster with collections of 50 lakhs nett.
