Ana Ivanovic hit 31 winners, including 23 off her powerful forehand, and beat Nadia Petrova to win the East West Bank Classic on Sunday.Ivanovic completed a big day for Serbian tennis by winning her second tournament of the year. Her countryman Novak Djokovic upset world No. 1 Roger Federer in three sets to win the Rogers Cup title in Montreal.

    Score: 7-5, 6-4

"I saw some of his match," she said. "He played amazing tennis, so I was motivated to do the same thing."

Ivanovic and Djokovic have been friends for about 14 years. They met as 4-year-olds at his parents' mountaintop restaurant in Belgrade. Growing up, they practiced together and played hide and seek.

Bhupathi, Vizner win Rogers Cup doubles!

August 12, 2007 - Indian Mahesh Bhupathi and Czech Pavel Vizner captured the doubles title at the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank with a 6-4, 6-4 win over fifth seeds Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe and Australian Paul Hanley Sunday afternoon. The doubles final, played right before the singles final, lasted one hour and seven minutes, and the champions held their serve the entire match. To advance to the final, Bhupathi and Vizner eliminated Fernando Gonzalez and Ivan Ljubicic, Martin Damm and Leonard Paes, as well as Bob and Mike Bryan in the semifinals. The champions follow the footsteps of last year's champions in Toronto, the Bryan brothers, and Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett, crowned in Montreal in 2005. This is Bhupathi's fourth title in Canada, after 1997, 2003 and 2004

Federer to face Blake for Cincy title!

Roger Federer moved within a victory of his 50th career title by beating Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (1) in the semifinals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters on Saturday.Federer, who won this event in 2005, will face James Blake on Sunday. Blake beat Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 6-2 in the late semifinal match.Federer is 6-0 against Blake. A win would make him the fifth-youngest player to win 50 titles, at 26 years, 11 days. Bjorn Borg won his 50th at 23 years, 7 months.Blake, who has never lost to Davydenko in six matches, has improved with each match this week, after having to withdraw from the event in Montreal last week with a pulled stomach muscle. He capped the seventh game of the second set with a 132 mph ace, and broke Davydenko in the next game with a cross-court smash for match point.

    Federer clinches Cincinnati crown!!

Top-ranked Roger Federer reached another measure of tennis greatness on Sunday, winning his 50th tournament title by beating James Blake 6-1, 6-4 in the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters. The 26-year-old Swiss star became the fifth-youngest player in history to reach 50, and only the ninth overall in the Open Era — since 1968 — to win so many tournaments.Given the way he's playing, he's eyeing the U.S. Open as No. 51.

Federer almost got the noteworthy win a week earlier in Montreal, where he lost the title match to Novak Djokovic in a third-set tiebreaker. This time, he set the tone right away against the eighth-ranked Blake, who was playing in only his second Masters championship match.

Dressed in all-white on a muggy, 92-degree afternoon, Federer extended his mastery of Blake — and all Americans, for that matter.Federer improved to 7-0 against Blake, who has won only one of their 19 sets — off a tiebreaker in the semifinals at the U.S. Open last year. He's not the only hard-hitting American who can't figure out how to handle's Federer's overall excellence.Federer has won 35 straight matches against Americans since he lost to Andy Roddick in the semifinals at Montreal on Aug. 9, 2003, an astounding streak of dominance. During that span, different Americans have risen and fallen, but none has broken through.Blake was playing catch-up right from the start. Federer served a pair of aces to open the match, then broke Blake's serve in the next game to take control. The 27-year-old American had three break chances in the fifth game of the opening set, which lasted 20 points and ended with Federer's emphatic forehand volley.

Opponents rarely get such chances against Federer. Deflated that he let it slip away, Blake was broken at 0-40 in the next game. Federer then served it out.Blake overcame four double faults to hold serve in the opening game of the second set, but was on the defensive the rest of the way. Federer broke him to go up 4-3, then fought off a couple of break points in the next game to retain control. Finally, he raised both arms in celebration after his ninth ace of the match gave him the title and, in his words, "a very special number."
