Thanks Karnan. Sherikkum paranjal ella. Initially felt that its always a type cast. The 'Good Samaritan' role has been done by him so many times now. Pakshe as the movie progresses one tends to forget that due to the way it pulls you in. Rehman, Asif Ali are good casting wins. Srinivasan and Anoop Menon could have been done by someone else.

Short Reviews

Christian Brothers - As expected, nothing new in the movie. The ever lasting 2 warring famalies (Sibi Udayan's Nth time). For a change, Narasimham's track of convicted son who has been misunderstood by father is brought in (Hope Mohanlal gets at peace with his on screen Fathers at least in the next 10 years). Added to the meyhem is Dileep and Kavya (hard to keep eyes on her for the way she looks). The only saving grace is some songs which have been made pathetic by picturisation especially 'Kannum Kannum' song with Mohanlal and Lakshmi Rai. Hope Mam and Lal will stop romancing heroines less than half of their ages. (Atleast Rajni does it only once in 2-3 years!). The only interesting part was when Suresh Gopi was pitted against Lal. When he arrests him and a few mins after that. There was some nostalgia of 20-20 open war between stars but that soon vanishes. Christian Brothers is about sad state of Malayalam Movies but even bad is the audience who make such movies great success. They will get only what they deserve. So get ready for another '2 Warring Families, Convicted son misunderstood by father'..... The tale never ends !!!

August 15 - The movie is having the same story as the older August 1 but this time the movie almost feels like some labourious exercise. Perumal tries to act smart but his dialogues, his body language every thing seems as if he is not interested in what is going on. English dialogues which are usually Mammotty's forte is in the negative here. He seems to be just uttering some memorised lines. Sidique's get up changes are some what interesting. Overdose of CPM party politics make it not a cinema but some propoganda. At the end of the day, one feels what was the need of such a cinema. Neither the actors nor the people who made it seem to have put any heart in to hit.
August 15th appears devoid of any soul.

Living Together - What makes Christian Brothers and August 15 seem like heaven is Fazil's Living Together. He has mixed everything in one movie. Aniyathipravu, Nokkathe Doorathu, Kaiyethum Doorathu and just when you thought it was missing.. Manichithrathazhu. Everyone seems to loose interest even after keeping very low expectations. Such a pain to watch and even to recall for the purpose of a review :)
