England's Failure and Typical Criticism on Manchester United Players
After a long 120 Minutes of facing fearsome Italy on Sunday night, England crashed out of Euro 2012 Quarter Finals after losing to Italy on penalties. Rooney and Gerrard scored from the spot kick but two Ashley's in the squad missed from the spot. One wasAshley Young from Manchester United. He managed to beat Buffon but not the post. So, the aftermath was obvious and the English fans made Young the scapegoat for their defeat ( England always play good, don't they? ) I am not going rant here aboutthe performance of England in Euros because everyone is wise enough to understand how it was but the ABU media and fans.
The criticism on Young was vicious to such extent that Police took notice of racial abuse which he faced on Social Networking websites after the next day of defeat. Well, this is not something new, as a Manchester United player a one should always know this is coming to their way as it always has been. Here I am going to point out some positive facts about England eliminating from an International tournament, United players incurring abuse and then in the following season, United conquering the league, AGAIN ( As usual).
It was David Beckham in 1998 after that redcard against Argentina, Cristiano Ronaldo in 2006 after England got knocked out, and Wayne Rooney in 2010. David Beckham contained all the vile abuse from English fans, fans burned his effigies. Ronaldo was booed in every stadium he went with United, Rooney was criticised in the same manner. But, what happened next ? How this is related to United's success ?
Aftermath of David Beckham incident : Afterfinishing the previous season trophy less Manchester United won the glorious treble in the following season of his red card incident, a feat which no English club has never achieved and for Beckham that was arguably his best season with Manchester United.
Aftermath of Ronaldo incident : In 2006-07 season Manchester United won the PremierLeague after three seasons and Ronaldo was one of the best players in United squad and what he became after that, everyone isaware of that.
Aftermath of Rooney incident : In 2010-2011 season Manchester United knocked their famous rivals Liverpool off their perch after winning the record breaking 19th Title. Rooney who was facing off the pitch problems cameback stronger in the second half of season and scored the most important goals for the club.
So, what's next for Ashley Young and Manchester United ? After going a trophy less , I am sure Manchester United will comeback stronger than ever and the hostile attitude towards Ashley Young will only make him stronger. We have done thatbefore and will do that again.
