Ask any regular cine goer about the fieriest characters he has ever seen in Malayalam cinema, and the names Joseph Alex IAS, and BharathchandranIPS will automatically make it to the list. Both the films were made by the hitduo of the 90’s, Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker. The impact that Mammooty’s Joseph Alex and Suresh Gopi’s Bharathchandran had on Malayalam movie audience has been not only significant, but could also be regarded as a milestone.

Explosive dialogues uttered with raw emotions by two personalities who were willing to go to any extent for the deployment of justice were the highlights of both the films. In a novel attempt, atleast for Malayalam cinema,‘The King and The Commissioner’ is being made as a sequel to the two blockbusters. The film also marks the reunion of arguably the most successful combo in Malayalam movie history in Shaji Kailas and RenjiPanicker after 16 years. The last time the two came together, ‘The King’ was born. This time Joseph Alex and Bharathchadran are serving under the central ministry, and they will be investigating a faultin the National Defense measure. Hopes are running high on the film, and the audience is expecting no less than a history making blockbuster this time round too.

The shooting for this much hyped movie is already underway in Delhi. Kochi, Kozhikode, and Trivandrum are the other locations where the film will be shot. Reema Sen makes her entry into Malayalam films through ‘The King and The Commissioner,’ starring along side the two ‘superstars’. Samvrutha Sunil, Janardhanan, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Vijayaraghavan are in the supporting cast. Cinematography is by Bharani K Dharan.
The eager wait of the fans will end on August 31, when the film will be brought to theaters by ‘Play House’ release.
