oru kali jayichappozhekkum madrid fans okke purath vannittundallo..
its not necessary that this is the beginning of the end for barca as some claim...no team in history, however great, has gone on to win everything in their way without faltering few times...so it is natural that barca are 'tamed' sometimes, this being the first time they have had a hiccup...so to immediately predict their decline now itself is overreaction and false hope of some....provided they do some innovation tactically,i reckon they'll be as strong as ever next season....and btw madrid are everything that is wrong with modern football....cant stand them a bit...

These hiccups are just the beginning of a slow descent that's all..They may go onto win the CL this year who knows..But many teams have already beaten them this year .They are not invincible as they were a couple of years ago. Xavi is getting old..D.alves is not that effective any more. Busquet's theatrics are not working with referees...
Thiago Alacantra or Fabergas --seriously doubt whether they can provide what Xavi gives to the team.Overall some cracks started to appear on the team.

Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso: Barcelona are no longer seen as invincible - The Daily Record

REAL MADRID midfielder Xabi Alonso says Chelsea need no longer fear Barcelona as the Catalans’ cloak of invincibility is slipping.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side take a one-goal lead into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Nou Camp tomorrow.
But they will face a Barcelona side reeling from a home defeat to bitter rivals Real that has effectively cost them the Spanish title.
Ex-Liverpool star Alonso was part of the Madrid team that stunned the champions 2-1 in the Nou Camp on Saturday night.
    DEFINING
And he said Barca’s defeat at Stamford Bridge last Wednesday along with the loss to Real shows they are now vulnerable.
Alonso said: “We know that over the last few years Barca have been playing great football. But they are not unbeatable any more.”
Barcelona’s defeat snapped a 54-game unbeaten run at home stretching back to September 2010. And it gave Chelsea a glimmer of hope they may be playing a side whose confidence in their own ability is waning.
Barca coach Pep Guardiola insists tomorrow’s tie will now be the defining point of the season for his side.
He effectively conceded the title to Real after the defeat left them seven points behind their bitter rivals with just four games to go.
And after losing their domestic championship he is desperate to hold on to the European crown.
He said: “I think the players will lift themselves. What happens against Chelsea will mark the rest of our season.
“They have had setbacks like this before and risen to the challenge.”
Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the winner for Real on Saturday, seconds after Barca sub Alexis Sanchez had cancelled out Sami Khedira’s opener.
As was the case in the defeat to Chelsea, Barcelona failed to take their chances.
And Guardiola said: “These guys have four years of playing every competition possible and sometimes lack a little freshness.
“That can happen. Our effectiveness in front of goal has made the difference in the games against Real and Chelsea.”

that's just your assumption...what if they re-invent next year??...as is said,no team can go on dominating for a long period without having some lows...its impossible...saying that this is a definitive sign of the start of their decline is far-fetched...

what I feel about this so-called decline in form for Barca is primarily because of the defense. Mascherano is a make-shift centre back. He lacks the positional sense. On top of it, Abidal has been troubled by his injuries. Adriano is not that good either. Certain points which I would like to share:
    1. In semifinal game against Milan at Camp Nou, Carlos Puyol was way out of his position which allowed Milan to score that goal.
    2. In the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Barca had numerous chances but could not convert them. And on the counter, Chelsea had one shot on target which Drogba converted. Mascherano was poor in marking down Drogba during the build-up of that goal.
    3. In El Classico, the goal which Khedira scored was because of defensive error again.

What I want to point out is, no matter which players you have got in your team to attack, defense also remains a vital area that needs to be strengthened. Barcelona in the past have spent lavishly on their attack/midfield. Fabregas should not have been their prime target. They have Thiago, Affelay, and others who can be used as back-up to Xavi, Iniesta in the midfield. Also what I feel is Keita/Mascherano is better than Busquets in the defensive midfielder role.
