Former Getafe boss Michel insists he will continue to be a fan of the club despite parting company with the Azulones on Monday after they decided against renewing his contract. Michel, 48, ended his two-year spell with Getafe having helped them narrowly avoid relegation from La Liga in an eventful 2010-11 campaign, which saw the club controversially taken over by the Dubai-based Royal Emirates Group.
But the former Real Madrid midfielder, who guided Getafe to a sixth-place finish and Europa League football in his first season, says the spilt with the club has been an amicable one.
Michel said in a statement: "After three seasons with happy endings and more than 100 games as coach of Getafe, it is time to end my professional relationship with the club - but not my personal relationship, as I have love and appreciation for this club and I could never forget my time here. The happy circumstances that have surrounded my professional development here make my memory a pleasant and endearing one and now I become a fan again, wherever my career takes me. I would not want to overlook or not publicly acknowledge the huge effort made to keep this club in the Primera Division and I am proud of my contribution and the will, dedication and imagination of the group to get such amazing results.''
Getafe's new owners, Royal Emirates Group, are believed to have set their sights on European qualification next term and want a more high-pofile coach to help them achieve that aim.

Despite playing for Barca's bitter rivals Real, Benzema was ready to give credit where it was due, and paid tribute to the Catalan side.
"There is absolutely nothing you can do about what we saw on Saturday," Benzema told France 2. "Barcelona really are a great team to watch."
Benzema also conceded that Barca had totally dominated United on their way to claiming the Champions League title.
"They were superior to Manchester United and dominated the match. United had a good start, but Barcelona were unstoppable once they started playing their own game."
Benzema, however, believed that Real's 1-0 victory over Barca earlier this season in the Copa del Rey final proved that the Catalan side could be beaten.
"We beat them in the Copa del Rey final so they can be beaten. However, there's no doubt that they are a great team."
Real were one of the sides to fall to Barca in their run to the Champions League Final, having lost 3-1 on aggregate in a heated semi-final clash.

Lionel Messi: I cannot imagine playing for any other club

'La Pulga' affirmed his desire to spend the rest of his career with Barcelona, while insisting that he had no problems with Carlos Tevez or any other Argentina player

Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi has affirmed his loyalty to the Catalan club as he arrived in Buenos Aires to meet up with the rest of the Albiceleste squad, while denying rumours that he has a problem with Carlos Tevez or anyone else in the national set-up.

'La Pulga', who put in a man of the match performance to lift his third Champions League title against Manchester United on Saturday, arrived this morning at Ezeiza airport to a crowd of journalists and photographers.
The 23-year-old superstar ruled out any possibility of leaving Barca who recruited him from Rosario as a teenager, as he began preparations for July's Copa America with the Seleccion.

"I cannot see myself ever playing in any club shirt apart from Barcelona's," Messi told reporters as he left the airport on Tuesday morning, confirming his commitment to the club.

The Argentine star is a certainty for Sergio Batista's Copa America squad, due to be announced later this afternoon. Rumours in the Argentine press have alleged personal difficulties between him and fellow Albiceleste star Carlos Tevez, but Messi dismissed such reports as ridiculous.

"Carlitos has spoken and he said that there is no fight. You guys have already had me fighting with Tevez, [Juan Roman] Riquelme, [Diego] Maradona... I have no problems with anyone and I do not plan to."

And the star finished by affirming his next target was to replicate his club success in the international game, starting by lifting the Copa America in July on home soil.

"I have been lucky enough to win everything with Barcelona and individually, but my goal now is to win things with the Seleccion," he confessed.

Messi and 24 other players will be announced in Batista's Copa America squad at 18:00 local time, a list which will be cut down to 22 for the start of the tournament.

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has revealed that negotiations are on the way with Barcelona over the transfer to the Nou Camp.
The 24-year-old has been on the radar of the newly crowned European champions and has also indicated his desire to step up to a new challenge in his career.
Now it seems the Italian's dream of playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi is set to come true as Barcelona have made contact with his agent Federico Pastorello.
"We are talking with Barcelona and Rossi would love to play for the club," Pastorello is quoted as saying by Spanish daily AS. "His price-tag is between €25 million and €30m.
"We are now waiting for news from Barca."
Rossi joined Villarreal from Manchester United in 2007 and has been one of the most prolific strikers in the La Liga since, scoring 32 goals in 56 games for the Yellow Submarine this season.

Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports that Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema could leave Real Madrid this summer and suggested he is keen to seal the permanent signing of Emmanuel Adebayor. Mourinho has long made clear his desire to strengthen Madrid's forward line, and Adebayor arrived on loan from Manchester City in January to bolster his options after a long-term injury to Higuain heavily restricted his options. Nonetheless, there have been numerous reports that Higuain and Benzema could be on their way out of the Bernabeu, with Arsene Wenger recently saying of the latter: "Signing him does not seem impossible. He's a player that I like." Higuain's father, meanwhile, said this week that his son wanted to remain in Madrid but confirmed that "a lot of clubs in Europe like him".
In an interview with Cadena SER on Thursday night, though, Mourinho confirmed the duo were "non-transferable".
Asked whether he would refuse to let them leave, he said: "It is not a case of me refusing to sell them. I don't make those decisions. If the club want to do something, I'm nobody. We all agree on Higuain and Benzema: we want to keep them."
There had been suggestions that Mourinho would be taking control of transfer policy at the club following the departure of general director Jorge Valdano, but he emphasised that that is not the case.
"I have no more power than I had before,'' he added. ''Madrid are looking for a new model within the organisation. Having a good structure [at the club] is not a guarantee of success, but a bad structure that is not suited to the modern game - that is a guarantee of failure. We must modernise and aim for perfection. I will still only be a coach and nothing more. With Valdano, there was nothing personal. I wish him all the best."
Mourinho, though, is likely to have a significant influence on who arrives at the club this summer and was asked about several players. On Adebayor - who had appeared likely to return to Eastlands - Mourinho suggested Madrid were keen to complete a deal. "He is a City player and there is a clause to buy him,'' he said. ''We are in a good bargaining position and the player wants to stay here. That's important."
Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero has also been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, and his remarks on Thursday that he would prefer to remain in Spain have been interpreted as a sign that he could make the controversial move.
"I will not be a hypocrite," Mourinho said. "Kun is a fantastic player - I won't be afraid to say it - but he's an Atletico player. Madrid will not contact players before making an agreement with their club."
On Benfica's Fabio Coentrao, who has spoken of his determination to move to Madrid, he added: "He's a great player. I like him for his versatility, his ability to play all over. Players of his type are always welcome, especially at a club as demanding as Madrid."
Meanwhile, Mourinho attempted to play down his bitter rift with Barcelona, where he worked under Bobby Robson in the late 1990s. "I was there between 1997 and 2000," he said. "From 2000 to 2011, everything changed - both the people and the institution. It's a different club now. I've never said I didn't enjoy working there. I have nothing against the club. I knew Guardiola as a player, but it's been ten years. Now he is the leader of the team, I don't know him. I knew a different Guardiola; he knew a different me."
Mourinho reiterated that he was unhappy with the manner in which Barca won the Champions League semi-final but accepted that their victory over Manchester United in the final was "well-deserved".
Asked about Guardiola's description of him as 'the f**king chief' in a press conference ahead of their Champions League meeting, Mourinho said: "It is nothing special. He can say what he wants."
Mourinho had appeared to hold doubts over his future during the season amid his feud with Valdano, and has said on numerous occasions in the past that he favours the Premier League.
However, he has stressed that he wants to stay on next season and denied he had considered leaving. "The president is a proud leader who knows that your heart and soul must be in Madrid to be here and that 99.9% of professionals want to be here. If I told him I was considering my future, he would say: 'Pack your bags and go'."
Asked which league he prefers, he said: "The leagues are different. I am now in Spain and Madrid only won 90 points and that was not enough to win the title. That is strange at this level. There is passion everywhere you go and that's important. I'm very happy, so I will stay on next season. If the president, the board, the players and the fans are happy, I will [be at the club in two years' time]."
