Some times I feel like writing a feature in Malayalam in one of the Malayalam News papers just to introduce the common men to the beautiful world of Club Football ,to inspire them watching Barcelona, United , Chelsea, Bayern, Madrid,Milan . If they watch these matches regularly , it will go a long way to re establish football as the premier sport at least in our Keralam.
But lack of time and drive is inhibiting me .

By the way, Why are you not coming to the movie threads, Giggs?

May be . And teams like Roma, Udinese, Napoli,Sampdoria etc are entertaining as well ? But the image I have of ITALIAN National Football team is really really negative because of their Catenachio/park the bus football.
But as I said these are all individual tastes and preferences.
I have a younger cousin ( mid thirtees) who is a huge fan of Italian Football and tactics. According to him Mourinjho, though he is a Portuguese is now the biggest exponent of Italian Football.
Italian national team's approach and that of Italian clubs is entirely different...especially that of AC Milan and Juventus of old ( I mean that of late 80's and 90's )......teams like Napoli , Roma and Lazio play very good football...

Mourinho is the brand Ambassador of negative football (...again opinions may differ )

Thiago Alcantara is a special player - Barcelona's Pep Guardiola

The Spain under-21 starlet impressed during the Audi Cup and his good performances have resulted in some special praise from his coach
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has taken the time to praise young midfielder Thiago Alcantara in the aftermath of the playmaker's superb performances at the Audi Cup.

The Spain under-21 ace scored once in the 2-2 draw against Internacional before netting a brace in the 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the final of the friendly tournament.

Additionally, Alcantara was voted man of the match in both games, and Guardiola remarked to Barca's official website: "Thiago is a special player. He wants a career in this world and we’re fortunate that we’ve produced another player in-house."

However, the Catalan tactician added that Alcantara's good performances don't necessarily mean that he will be a regular in 2011-12 due to the stiff competition for places in midfield.

"Thiago is just another first-team player. During the season there will be space and time for everything and in this area he has to win his place in the team."

Alcantara recently signed a contract extension until the summer of 2015.

thanks giggs and master for your valuable discussion..
keeping them aside, i feel Thiago is the future of barcelona and more importantly, Spain (if he stays and i hope he stays on)
as pointed by master, barcelona have to tighten their defense.. they have arguably the best attack in the world..
also i would like to focus some light on madrid's defense.. the goals are scored easily against a team managed by Mourinho..
Every flight begins with a fall.

All glamour & Galacticos - but Barcelona and Real Madrid's signings could leave them defenceless next season

Spain's big two have signed some of the game's top talents so far this summer, but both look to be in need of reinforcements at the back as well

The biggest names in football have been linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer, and many have arrived. Chile forward Alexis Sanchez was unveiled at the Catalan club on Monday, while Jose Mourinho's side are currently on tour with a handful of new recruits, including left-back Fabio Coentrao (who is being used in a more advanced role in the United States), winger Jose Callejon, and midfielders Nuri Sahin and Hamit Altintop. On top of all that, Madrid still hope to bring in a striker, with Neymar, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor all mentioned, while Barca turn their attentions to Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

    But what about the defenders?
Barca's backline was notoriously difficult to breach last season as the Catalans conceded just 21 goals in their 38 league games. Nevertheless, coach Pep Guardiola was forced to shuffle his squad in the absence of defensive leader and lynchpin Carles Puyol. Barcelona lost five games in total last season and Puyol was absent in all of those. His presence lifts the players around him and brings the best out of central defensive partner Gerard Pique. Puyol's troublesome knee injury saw him restricted to just seven games after Christmas - a total of just 377 minutes.

Lending a hand | But Barcelona need a back-up option for 33-year-old Carles Puyol

With his captain missing, Guardiola was forced to field a number of different players in central defence, including midfielders Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano. Such a situation, however, is hardly ideal and surely not one the Barca coach will be keen to see a repeat of in 2011-12. The idea, at the beginning of last season, had been for left-back Eric Abidal to fill in and he did so admirably until he was sidelined himself by a cancerous tumour in his liver.

Abidal returned triumphantly to lift the Champions League trophy, but whether he can resume a regular role remains unclear, while Puyol's participation in the coming campaign is also something of an unknown quantity at this stage.

So far this summer, Barcelona haven't come remotely close to signing a central defender, although the Catalan club were keen to bring in Sporting Gijon full-back Jose Angel, who ended up moving to Roma.

Madrid have signed a defender, 18-year-old Raphael Varane. The teenager was snapped up from Lens - with the help of new sporting director Zinedine Zidane - and looks to have a bright future ahead of him, but centre-back is one position where experience is vital and Mourinho is unlikely to blood the youngster in the big games just yet.

    Welcome Hitman.
Yaa. Thiago should be taken care of. He is precious.
Infact there is his younger brother - Rafinha(if my memory is right) Alcantara . He is regarded as a greater talent than Thiago. Right now he plays for Barca B. The future looks promising for Barcelona.

You are right. I feel Mourinho is struggling to keep a balance between his Park the Bus Football and making the Madrid Fans happy. If MOURINHO TRY TO PLAY ATTACKING FOOTBALL HE IS SURE TO LEAK GOALS. Madridistas cant tolerate negative football beyond certain limits. Right now they are tolerating Mourinho because they are desperate to end the Barca dominance.

Emirates to sponsor Real Madrid over five seasons

The presentation act was attended by President Florentino Perez and twenty first team players

Real Madrid and Emirates presented a new sponsorship deal for the next five years. The act was attended by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez; Salim Obaidalla, Emirates' Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation; Boutros Boutros, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications; and twenty players of the first team squad.

The deal, announced at a press conference today at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, sees Emirates become a Partner and Official Airline to the club for the next five years.

Florentino Perez said: “Emirates is a world-renowned company that has always respected and valued sport. The airline shares our belief in loyalty, effort, commitment and innovation and these common principles will create a special understanding. We strongly believe this is a strategic alliance bridging us with our many followers all over the world.”

"Having launched flights to Madrid on 1st August last year, this is a tremendous way for Emirates to mark the first anniversary of the route, while demonstrating our on-going support to sports and sports followers around the world," added Salem Obaidalla

The act ended with an exchange of gifts. Real Madrid presented Emirates representatives with a customised shirt, and in turn received a scale replica of one of the airline's airbuses
