You are right. Messi needs to come out of the Barcelona safety-net and show that his legs does not require the Xavi-Iniesta motor to function properly. Just want him to come out of the false nine structure and still perform.

Another thing, in the decades prior to the 90's, the WC was the pinnacle to showcase the talents. It was watched around the world, discussed and criticized and the aura lasted for 4 years. With the prominence of the Champions League from the 90's and its live broadcast, I think (and I do not claim to be right here), it is like the WC is happening every year.
