Oru successful writeril ninnum oru successful director aayi marunnathil Ranjith successful aayi ennu karutham.. Now he has a handful of good movies as a director which can be counted on par with his previous successes as a writer alone. A rare feat in Malayalam, I think only Padmarajan could achieve it before. Lohitadas's graph went down with each movie he directed. While Bhoothakkannadi can stand tall in front of many of his older great movies as a writer, nothing came after it could match to even its knee.
But if one considers the commercial success of Ranjith movies it is very much similar to Lohitadas's case, in terms of critical success, with Bhoothakkannadi. A movie that comes anywhere closer to Ravanaprabhu in commercial success is still due. Can Ranjith pay this due with Indian Rupee?.
