Its there for years in every western countries and main thing attracting people to monthly plans with 24 month contract.... But most of the monthly plans are higher than prepaid, but has more talktime and data. When contract finishes there might be option to upgrade ur phone but tying to another 24 months... here in sydney to buy new iphone6 plus in a 24 hrs contract with a top plan is about $100/month and costing around $2400 over 2 years. Not much difference to a sim free option if we consider buying phone alone. Then you can go for a more cheaper networks. Ur sim is network locked to that network and can't change network provider for 2 years. So overall U R STUCK THERE.

    Not exactly..........
If we use a pre-paid phone, yes the local calling hours may be high, but no data, it we took data package, the price may go higher. so everybody prefer post paid.
    Just for an example
Last week I renewed by contract. My Paln is of S$60/month but under corporate plan its come around 45. The plan is 300 minutes out going and incoming free and 3GB data. I can convert this 300 minutes to call overseas if I pay another S$8.
When I renewed I took a iphone 6s+ and I need to pay additional S$700 for this. the actual price is S$1388 (6s+ Rose gold 64 gb).
So I can gain around S$700, which I can cover almost 15 months of my phone bill if I sell this phone outside..

I use $30/month prepaid and Use my 1/3rd(of iPhone) priced Oneplus. Gets enough data and local calls (dont use all minutes still). So i pay $720/24 months and phone costs was around $525 in 2014. So i can save around nearly $1200 compared to that pricy monthly plan.. I have freedom to move to any network when better plans comes and don't feel any downside experience while using my phone and have the freedom of android os(customization) which is big factor for me..... There is better saving when selecting phones like G4 and lower monthyl plan like $40/month - u just have to pay $125 for the phone....

In Singapore the issue is the there is no data available on pre-paid (If need we need to take additional data bundle which is expensive). Myself using another pre-paid phone also which I using to call overseas calls. Once we top up around S$28, we can get 100 minutes of local calls and 28 dollars overseas call and is valid for 1 month. but no data.

Both are good ones... Little towards Le 1s.. But havent had anybody's opinion on Le 1s yet bcoz its new.. But all reviews and comments good about it... But other one is estd company and expect the durability and quality for long use...
