was never a fan of 3I, this one is no where near 3I, shankar the main ciulprit i shd say, he didnt even try to change the camera angles. perfomances also no where neat the original the worst being 'silencer and illeana. Jiiva's was the closest to the original. Didnt like vijay tryng to imitate many action/reactions of aamir khan, Illeana was a waste her dubbing sucked [bt liked the malayalam joke in the drunken scene]

film is 20 mins longer than 3I bt except an addnl sng didnt notice anytn spl, even the songs didnt have the shankar magic, i think he shd have produced and not directed this movie.

also the lyrics of the songs r no where near to that of 3i, i usualy dnt care abt the lyrics, bt in 3i even if u dnt make an effort the simple but excellent lyrics will enter ur mind make u emotional, which nanban songs didnt have, songs were good in album, bt in the movie it didnt serve the needs .....

Same opinion....just a small difference, the worst was sathyaraj and ileana for me...silencer koothara aayirikkumennu pratheekshathu kondaavaam, athra veruppu thonniyilla...

Chennai Box-Office (Jan12 to 15)

It is boom time at the Chennai box-office. The business of cinema has been humongous during the Pongal weekend. The two Pongal biggies Shankar`s Vijay multi-starrer Nanban and Lingusamy`s Madhavan-Arya mass entertainer Vettai took over the box-office.
As per early indications Nanban leads the Pongal race, as it opened two days before Vettai on January 12. Nanban has netted a record Rs 2.27 crores in four days at CBO, which is outstanding. Vettai which opened on January 14 too reported 95 % opening for the first two days, which is fantastic.

Aamir to attend Snehitudu audio launch

​Shankar directed Snehitudu, Telugu dubbed version of his Tamil film Nanban, starring Vijay and Ileana, will have its music launch on January 19th at Shilpakala Vedhika in Hyderabad.


Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has agreed to participate in the audio launch ceremony, sources informed us.

As Aamir Khan starred in the original movie, 3 Idiots, director Shankar and producers Gemini Film Circuit requested him to join the celebrations and he reportedly said yes immediately.


Along with the film`s cast and crew including Vijay, Ileana, Jiiva, Srikanth, director Shankar, music director Harris Jayaraj, bigwig Tollywood celebrities are also expected to attend the function.


This is the first time that Shankar is releasing his film in Telugu after the release of the Tamil version. Leaving aside his first film Gentleman, all his movies had simultaneous release in Tamil and Telugu as he is a big brand in Andhra Pradesh market.


Nanban, the Tamil version, was released on Jan 12, 2012.
