Thampanoor Bus Terminal To Be Ready By March 2013
The officials are working hard to complete the terminal before March next. Though the date has not been fixed, the people of Trivandrum should be able to finally see this functioning hopefully by next year. Right from the inception of construction works in 2010 this prestigious project has faced many hurdles. The works has been stalled on account of heavy rains, exodus of north-eastern labourers connected with the violence in Assam, accident that resulted in the death of a labourer, unavailability of river sand, cement and other raw materials.
While speaking to Yentha, an official of KTDFC said, “The works are on in full swing right now especially the interiors. All this despite the lack of raw materials and moreover with holidays like Diwali, Dussehra coming in, the works were severely affected in the last three months. We have a team of 170 workers working throughout day and night to accomplish this long awaited project.”
The new state-of-the-art complex will have 12 floors (3.5 lakh square feet) with modern escalators, lifts and so on. There will be spaces for setting up multiplexes and for branded outletsand three floors exclusively set aside for parking that can park up to 300 cars. This building will be landmark that would change the face of Thampanoor. “The tender to set up shops and businesses will be issued next month and we already have got some enquiries from big shots,” the official said
