Story

Its about Gattu alias Parghat singh khalon(akshay) and his passion for cricket, its about Gurtej Singh Khalon (Rishi) and his ideologies..What happens when passion has to compete with ideologies, which one will make way for the otehr is the crux of the story..

Gattu is now 34 years, works at his own shop and practices bowling at night, almost gave up passion of his life' cricket due to the dictatorship (ideologies) of his father who doesnt want his son play for england, gattu got a chance to play for england once when he was 17 but was not allowed by his father...

years move the whole patiala house family are frustrated because they were not allowed to seek their passions they blame it mainly on gattu because gattu they believe is spineless and has gave up his passion and father insists others to follow gattu the eldest in the family..

meanwhile the english cricket team is under crisis, the team is not performing well , veterans like gooch, gower and nasser hussain alongwith a punjabi man played by tinu anand starts picking up new players for the next t20 championship, tinu anand and nasser hussain wants to include akshay kumar in the team ( doesn't make any sense, he hasnt played cricket since last 17 years..ok whateve this is movie)

Akshay rejects the offer initially and later accepts after his family members and girl friend inisists him and follow his dream and this cud or may lead to more wonders in their family..

Akshay joins the team and become a hero overnight , rishi doesnt know whos this indian guy doing all the dhamaka for england, family members never allows rishi to watch cricket and they play lot of tricks to keep this a secret.....let me not spoil the later part..

the way they have incorparated ths southall history with rishis life was good, it doesn't look forced and kinda helped the movie in later proceedings

Performances

Rishi has got an amazing role in this film (like N.N Pillai from godfather, pilla hates aanappara family rishi hates the whole british :) ) and hes delicious to watch, superb ! same goes for dimple kapadia, though she doesn't have screen space as rishi shes tooo good.
Akshay -earnest and likeable, well performed and yeah akshay has a good bowling action, near to flawless.
Anushka Sharma- shes so lively, pleasure to watch, she's like srks character from kal ho na ho , comes from nowhere and starts making decision in others life, whateve :) she lights up teh screen every time shes on screen.
supporting casts were good
then yeah cricketers- gooch, gower, nasser hussain , hussain speaks in hindi too hehe these guys forgot hussains family is from south india and not hindi speaking :) isnt it ?? and yep symonds , nannes and few more are there..!
