Five Man City players Guardiola has already improved
Aleks Kolarov Most Blues wanted him out after a poor season, but Kolarov was intent on sticking around and working under Guardiola. It looks a good move – for some he was man of the match as centre half against Sunderland, and looked good as a “false full back” in Bucharest.
Key stat – passing accuracy up from 79.2 per cent to 90 per cent.
Raheem Sterling Guardiola rang him during his darkest hour with England with words of encouragement , and he has come out of the blocks like Usain Bolt this season. Earned two penalties, set up two goals against Steaua and has been electric at times, looking every inch the £44million player.
Key stat – number of dribbles up from 1.3 to six per match.
Gael Clichy By no means City's worst player last season, but there was always a feeling the Blues could do better. But he looked perfectly at home as an additional midfielder in Pep's innovative use of “false full backs”.
Key stat – average number of passes per game up from 53 to 83.
David Silva One of few players who will need very little tweaking, as he was made to be a Guardiola player, apart from his pressing game, possibly. But he looks rejuvenated this season, and was brilliant in Bucharest.
Key stat – Champions League passing accuracy up from 83.6 per cent to 87 per cent.
John Stones A player who has come to City largely to improve under Pep, and who had his critics at Everton last season. He has slotted in neatly to a side better suited to his natural game.
Key stat – Number of passes up from an average 47.5 per game to 78.
Kelechi Iheanacho signs new two-year contract extension with Manchester City.
Pep: "We hope to help Kelechi reach the highest level and to realise his full potential.”
last season, City started off in the heavens. five wins in the first as many matches including a 3-0 against Chelsea and a 2-0 against Everton. things seemed all bright. then came the CL game against Juve. lost 1-2. that killed the rhythm. soon followed the away 0-2 loss against Stoke. things went downhill from then on. this season, City stuttered to win the first match 2-1 against Sunderland. then came the CL play-off 5-0 win against Bucharest. things seem bright. and there comes the away against Stoke tomorrow.
another glowing article. is there no end to this?

City football forums have wasted lots of pages on this Joe Hart issue. Some supporting him, most supporting Pep. Hart is definitely a City legend. 10 years for the club. rose up from the youth squad. personally, i like his attitude. he doesn't gloat over victories, he claims responsibilities for the defeats, always has good things to say about his mates... but the thing is, City have been pursuing Pep since the Barcelona days. The pulling-in of Txiki and Soriano are testament to that. Finally having bought him on board, if he feels Hart is not the sort of sweeper-keeper he requires, i don't see why the fuss. pep might have made some stupid transfer deals in his past, but one thing he is really good at, apart from being the best out there, is that he sure knows how to pick rotten apples. if Hart doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.
