Man City charged under FA anti-doping rules

Manchester City have been charged under FA rules for failing to give anti-doping officers accurate information about player whereabouts. The FA has announced that the club has been charged under rule 14 (d) of the anti-doping regulations which requires accurate information about where players will be at all times. The club has until January 19 to respond to the matter – with League One side Fleetwood Town hit charged with the same offence.
The FA released a statement which reads: "Manchester City have been charged in relation to the FA's rules on anti-doping. "It is alleged the club failed to ensure that their 'club whereabouts' information was accurate, contrary to Regulation 14(d). City have until 19 January 2017 to respond to the charge." Under FA rules, clubs have to submit detailed information on the whereabouts of their players at all times. That information has to be kept updated – and it is this which City have been charged with failing to do. The FA rules on missed drugs tests are on a "three strikes and out" basis and it is believed that is what has happened to City. It is understood City would most likely face a fine if found guilty. The rules require fine administrative detail covering such things as up-to-date information on such matters as training times and players' home addresses. City have refused to comment on the matter.
