Stating that if people call a movie 'brilliant', then one needs to find a different adjective for movies of your liking isn't 'informal dialogue'!. It's stating dislike because their tastes do not match yours. It's fine to dislike an actor or a movie he stars in, you may state your reasons as well. Albeit, it's tasteless to ridicule when others do not share your same opinion.

we normally associate "brilliant" with movies that really raise to next level... my point was if we start terming very good/verygood movies as brilliant, then the traditionally "brilliant" movies that we are address will need other adjectives..
i made by point, whether it is stating a dislike or not.. thats why i said it is informal... this is not a managed debate/dialog...

In terms of film appreciation... There are two kinds of people.

Some people get so obsessed with a star that they watch a movie to watch that star. For them the whole film is about that star. Their review can even totally be different as they like that star so much.

The latter category isn't crazy about the star as much. So if the film fails in terms of story or plot, they notice it a lot more.

u can crazy about a star becos of the repertoire of his work, but not necessarily be blind towards him...
i think on a neutral perspective, we all are capable of understadning the qualities of a film, atleast within ourselves , tough we may not publicly admit it for some reasons..

Kali was completely spoiled by a lackluster ending ....sai pallavi car eduthu poyathu vare nalla build up aayirunu ....pineedu oru maathri kaatu nirachu balloonil otta kuthu koduthu chukki kalanjhathu pole aayi. oru high volatage ending koduthirunel nalla impact undayene .

If my viewing experience was brilliant, then that's exactly what I shall call it as, 'Brilliant'. Your 'traditional brilliant' movies might be outright boring for me to watch. To each their own!

I found Charlie 'Brilliant'! Unni R said the movie is simply a festival, a simple story about a woman searching for a directionless individual. I thought the movie portrayed the same brilliantly, nothing over the top, it was light and humorous in places, emotional in others, Dulquer portrayed it very well, incorporated the right commercial elements. The technical elements were good, excellent camera work, music complemented the movie perfectly......for me it was Brilliant.

Might not be for you, but don't tell me what adjective I need to use to view my opinion!

u can use what adjective u want.... and if i felt the adjective was not right, i will opine as well.. u can leave it or be bothered...
