“Bavuttiyude Namathil”, as the name indicates, is the story of Bavutty (Mammootty) , who is the driver of a wealthy couple Sethu (Shankar Ramakrishnan)-Vanaja (Kavya) . Mariyambi (Kaniha) is the servant of same family and Noorjahan (Rima) , Bavuttys lady in love , is a tuition teacher. The story further develops as a past life incident of Vanaja affects Bavutty.
The film starts with a drama kind of film shooting sequences of lead characters and keeps the momentum with some hilarious moments till the end of first half. Especially, how the song “Anuragathin” is placed in this movie is too good. The current trend “gangnam style” is also added, to keep some timely fun. The story takes a serious clichéd turn in the second half, and ends with a feel good climax.
The audience will expect a lot from the script by Ranjith. His presence is clearly visible in the character portrayal and also in the first half. But , the second half moves like a usual family sentimental movie. G.S. Vijayans direction is good. But he could have done something better to avoid some boring sequences in the second half. Regarding the technical department, cinematography is above average and editing is fine. There are 2 songs in the movie composed by Shahabaz Aman , in which the title song is catchy.
Mammootty , delivers a wonderful performance as Bavutty and I can easily say he simply asteals the show. Kavya , in the lead female role , excels and her Neeleshwaram slang suits the character. Vineeth , in a short role , has done very well. Kaniha , as a home maid , was also good. All other supporting cast including Shankar Ramakrishnan , Rima Kallingal , Sudheesh , Harishree ashokan are good.
Overall, “Bavuttyde Namathil” is clichéd, as its advertisement says. But it’s simple, humorous and feel good movie.
Rating : 6/10

thanks ............
Mammootty can be likened to the purest breed of Red Oak trees- he shall still stand upright, rooted in deep and exposing his ornamental bark in all its glory and charisma.
Thanks Jithu Bhai...
