'Robert Brigow's Monkey Pen' renamed 'Philips and the Monkey Pen'

The movie 'Robert Brigow's Monkey Pen' has been renamed 'Philips and the Monkey Pen'. The movie is written and directed by Shanil Muhammed and Rojin. The film tells the story of three generations.

The movie tells the attachment that a child develops to a pen which is gifted to him by his grandfather. Jayasurya, Joy Mathew, Mukesh, Murali Gopi, and Remya Nambeesan are the important actors.

In the banner of Friday Cinema House, 'Philips and the Monkey Pen' is produced by Sandra Thomas. The movie will start rolling from May 15 in Kochi.

Remya to play a young Muslim mother next-Times Of India


Remya Nambeesan seems to be on an experimental mode of late. After playing a rustic girl who migrates to the UK in Shyamaprasad's English, and an abused wife in Arun Kumar Aravind's Left Right Left, the actress will now essay the role of a young Muslim mother in Rojin Thomas and Shanil Mohammed's debut, Philips and The Monkey Pen.

The film, which focuses on parent-child relationships, will see her playing wife to Jayasurya and mother of a 10-year-old. "Remya's character, Sameera Roy, is a girl who grew up in Kannur. She and Jayasurya play two youngsters, a Muslim and a Christian, who fall in love and get married at the young age of 18. They have a child too, very early, and when the story begins, the child is 10 years old."
The director says Remya has never played a mother before, but was all excited to take up the role after hearing the story. "Her character is someone who loves to cook and works as an anchor for a cookery show. The only difficulty the actress had to face was to speak Kannur slang all through the film," says Rojin and further adds, "Though the film shows the couple moving to Kochi, Remya's character still retains her traditional ways and language. Since the actress is not familiar with the Kannur slang, she has asked for a separate script for the character to get the slang right."
